gray cap on alternator (+) positive wire

How do I remove the gray cap covering the cable on the positive (+) alternator terminal? I tried lightly tugging and twisting it and just didn't want to force anything; is there any trick to it, or do I simply need to pull harder?

It has 2 clips that goes over the ring, just try to pry on one side. they are pretty tough i have yet to break mine and i force it off with a screw driver many times. make sure you disconnect battery before touching that post tho.

Thanks, I figured there might be some trick to removing it, and I'm certain once I remove it from that terminal, then I should be able to easily see how it attaches and works...
