Griffin Radiator - Combo Aluminum Radiator + eFan Conversion with Shroud

I forget where I found out about this company, but Griffin Radiator specializes in building custom Aluminum radiators and they offer purpose-built eFan conversions that include fan shrouds.

I reached out to them about potentially working with them to use my truck as a development vehicle so they could potentially bring a few offerings to market.

Would there be any interest from the folks here in an Aluminum radiator and/or eFan conversion kit?

But, wanted to see if there's interest here first so maybe a group buy could be arranged.

Not sure I see the advantage of the aluminum/electric combo on our vehicles. Our stock radiator has plenty of cooling capacity for our engines, and I'm not sure we would see the horsepower gains this mod nets you on some other rigs.

Flipside is this isn't something I've spent much time thinking about, so who knows.

Yeah, that's true. I've not heard of many with cooling issues, even when crawling at low speed for long periods of time.

After thinking about it more, I'd be more interested in the eFan kit + shroud that could be used with the OEM radiator.

My thoughts about having an aluminum radiator built was that i've seen members here with mixed results. There is a member here that tried pretty exhaustively to get eFans to work on these trucks with the OEM radiator, and was unsuccessful: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3473929-post43.html

So, replace the OEM radiator with one that is more efficient + the eFans might mean that there would be no issues with keeping these trucks cool even in the most demanding of use cases.

I've been on the fence about an efan. The horsepower gained can be had with many other different modifications without compromising one of the most important things in a vehicle, especially one that gets used like ours do, with an electric component that can fail at the worst possible time. I think that's one of the reasons the 4runner doesn't come stock with an efan after all these years....a fan and clutch works just fine. I've heard from a handful of Jeep drivers in various adventures about how they wish they didn't have efans...

Now the aluminum radiator I like, because it's solid aluminum. No issues with cooling for me, but an all aluminum piece that's been tested under pressure is going to be more robust down the line than the original plastic tank radiator the vehicle comes with.
