Those who have used both Griots and Zaino Bros

Of the two, I've only used Zaino's, but it seems that you can't go wrong with either. Just be aware that they are more expensive that you may be used to paying for polish.

Griots vs Zaino Bros

Have not used Griots--but have used and will continue with Zaino Bros-absolutely a great polish.Follow directions and you will not be disappointed.

I haved used Zaino and it's the best stuff I have used yet. I am very happy with it. I'm not sure i would say its more expensive, the polish itself is about 8 or 9 dollars, but it should last you quite a few applications, because you put zaino on very thin. I don't know anyone who has used Griots, but i have heard good things about that as well. I go with Zaino because it works great and the company is very close to where i live.

I use all Griot's products. Best of Show Wax, cleaning clay, Speed Shine, and number three polish (finest) and I swear by it. I also ues the Griot's rubber dressing on the REVO's and vinyl.

Here is a pic from October, the day after stripping the old wax, claying, polishing and waxing with Griot's and the Porter Cable.

Zaino's won a comparison test that included many other waxes including Griots that was done by GURU REPORTS and was published in the May 2003 issue of Automobile magazine. I have not used either of these products and would like to see this report to see their strong/weak points and advantages/disadvantages of each and also how they compare to the store bought brands.

Anyone have this report or the May 2003 Automobile mag? Care to share some or all the info with us?

Guru reports sells the comparison test for ~$10. I do not want to pay for it as I think that is kinda expensive (the Automobile mag probably went for 4 or 5 dollars). If I have to I guess I will visit the library to get the backissue but figured I try here first.

I have some info on the Guru Reports. The test is pretty good, however, Zaino and Griot's can't really be compared. Zaino is a fully synthetic product while the Griot's is a carnauba. I think Richard Griot doesn't like synthetic products, so he doesn't sell one. Because of this, the two were separated into different categories in the test. Zaino ranked the highest in the synthetic category and I believe P21S Concours-Look Carnauba wax was the highest rated carnauba wax (same as S100 Carnauba wax).

Thanks for the reply. Just one more question for you. Were there any store bought brands that finished close to these two or at least high up in the rankings? Like Zymol for instance, I bought alot of this at Costco and got a great price, just wondering if I should throw it out and start over with something else that is better.

I don't have the test, I have just a few portions of it. The Zymol cleaner wax ranked pretty low, #35 out of 46. They list it as the Zymol SUV Natural Liquid wax (it's the same thing.) Most of the Mother's products ranked pretty high. Both the California Gold Pure and Cleaner Carnuaba waxes had pretty good results. Here's a shocker, one of the Armor All waxes ranked near the top. Um...like I said the P21S ranked as the highest "premium" wax. You can go to a Harley Davidson dealer and pick up a jar of S100. They're the same thing, have the same bottle and it's about $10 cheaper. I wouldn't toss out the Zymol though. I have a few friends who swear by it. But if you're looking to try something new, S100 has been getting really great reviews.

I think I'll use up the Zymol and just buy some good stuff to prep it withand then look at different stuff when the Zymol runs out.
