Hello everybody I'm really hoping you'll be able to help me out. I just bought myself a 1998 toyota 4runner and no more than a week after I bought it I started having problems with it. I had installed the stereo that was in my old car in the 4runner and everything had worked fine and I didn't cut or connect anything that didn't involve the cables that went into the connector that goes into the back of the stereo itself. And the day after that I went to start it and all I got was a single click and the power in all shut off. I had assumed that my battery was dead and autozone was able to confirm that for me so I bought another and after I installed it I was still having the same problems. It kept acting like the battery had no charge what so ever to turn the engine over. Out of curiosity thinking it was how I hooked up the stereo I had unplugged the adapters that plug into the original cables that go into the back of the stock radio. And that didn't help anything. So I started digging through some of the threads on here and many people had said that it was a ground and/or bad terminal connections at the battery. The only ground I found was a cable that came off the positive cable that connected to the side of my v6 engine near the oil pan. Cleaned it all and the connections at the terminals but that didn't help. But what it does is before I put the key in it has power to the inside courtesy lights and when I put the key in and not turn it the dinger comes on but right after that when I turn it one click to the right to turn the accessories on it loses all the power and cuts in and out, but if you give it a minute or so it will eventually regain power with the key in that same position, and when I turn it again to the next slot before you crank the engine over the same thing happens. And when you try to crank it I get the single click and I lose all power again. A buddy of mine thinks a ground isn't connected near the stereo and is causing everything to go haywire, since the guy that owned it before me was into huge subs and what not and thinks that connections weren't put back together properly. Thanks to everybody who took the time to read that but any input to help me with this would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!
