Just received my 06 today, have exhaust smell in vents, going to a friend's shop to give it a good look. I may be in for some long tubes, it looks like this is still at 14 paid?
I also need winter tires and wheels, so I have to set my priorities...ugh

We now have 17 paid I'm impressed with how smooth this is going so far. After we get 20 paid, there will be about a 5 day window for anyone else wanting these to get in on it... Again, once I announce on here that all 20 have paid, then will be about 5 more days to get in on this deal....

Hey Everyone, Just wanted to chime in as the lurker who bought Formidable's 4th gen 4runner. The DT long tubes went on this past weekend and I've been driving it sparingly since Monday with no CEL so far. These longtubes bolt on nicely to the off-road y-pipe Formidable already installed which has left me with no cats.

The smell was pretty unnoticeable before with just the off-road y-pipe (deleted the 2 rear cats) and stock headers but now with the LTs installed the front cats have also been deleted and the smell is very noticeable in my opinon. I read on the corvette forum of a guy who went catless on his daily driver and showed up to a meeting one time smelling like he just mowed the lawn after commuting with the windows down. This isn't a daily driver for me so it's not too bad but I think I may get some bolt on high flow rear cats to see if it helps at all and get it to a level I personally find tolerable/enjoyable. (I personally love driving windows down with the 4runner in summer with that back window down creating great air flow through the cabin. Right now that doesn't seem possible without getting stinky so good thing Fall/Winter are coming up soon )

URD offers a rear O2 simulator to help prevent the emission CELs associated with removing the front cats. I think it's P0420 code. I did not install the rear universal rear O2 simulator from URD yet because I will be running their UCON-EMS shortly which corrects for the CELs associated with removing the front cats during longtube installation (no CELs for me so far but I guess sometimes it takes a bit for them to come on and I've only gone through a 1/4 tank of gas since the installation - I will update of anything notable that occurs).

Performance wise, with the y-pipe, headers, cat-back and cold air intake, this thing feels like the v8 it is and ROARS at WOT. Pretty loud under load but when cruising is pretty docile. We'll see how the high-flow rear cats effect things when I replace the y-pipe. I'm thinking I'll keep the y-pipe around to swap in and out when desired.

I can't remember, did his rig (now yours) have a body lift on it? I want to run a 1 inch and the shortys have a problem with that. Wondering if the LTs have the same issue.

Thanks for the input, are you running an otherwise stock exhaust system (muffler and resonator)? If so, any chance of you making some sound clips? I'm curious just how loud it is with the stock muffler and resonator.

Hey sorry I am running a full URD exhaust now from headers to tip so none of it is stock anymore.

Ah gotcha, thanks for clarifying. So would you say the headers made things much louder? I primarily use my 4runner for road trips and I'm really sensitive to droning.

Things were already fairly loud before the headers went on since headers were the last piece of the exhaust to be done. It does seem a bit louder now though but not a huge difference as it went from being "fairly loud" --> "yup that's loud".

I'm not sure exactly what type of difference you will hear with everything else remaining stock. I personally thought the upgrade from stock exhaust --> URD y-pipe and catback made a much bigger difference in terms of sound than the change from adding headers last did. Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: I just went for a ~30 minute drive and got on the highway for a while. Driving 55-70 mph there wasn't much drone if any. The tire noise from the Nitto Ridge Graplers and wind noise were more noticeable than the exhaust was while cruising.

Yeah I saw that. Looking for definitive proof though, want to see pics with it installed etc. “Apparently” and “should fit” get tossed around a lot but don’t mean much to me on something this expensive.

I've sold over 50 sets of Long Tubes, no issue with body lift. If there were you'd hear people yelling at me on here too. Yes, there is more room with the long tubes. You can also do with short tubes, just need to swap out steering shaft bolt for flat one, for $1.

Works awesome with the Gibson (I have it on sale for Labor day right now) and NO DRONE. These headers with the Gibson at least make the sound a much smooth better slowing sound. I know that may sound like a funny statement but it's true. I've done a lot of these. People either go with the single rear exit Gibson, or the Side dual.
