think about it like this, the baja flat utility rack will allow you to mount an RTT as well as items that are long such as your kayaks.


baja also makes gas/jerry can holders that bolt down onto the baja rack to give it a secure point. hi-lifts and other accessories including awnings can be mounted to it as well.

i personally went with a gobi stealth because i dont plan to get an rtt or haul kayaks on the roof.

just giving you an honest opinion based on the needs you stated :cowboy:

I just feel/sense that the Gobi is more versatile with the cross bars. I have kayak saddles that will not work with the Baja Utility. The side rails on the Gobi will make mounting things like awning and hi lift simpler/more universal.

Would I be able to order the Ranger rack with out the bump up in the front, so it is all the same height through out?

Thinking this will be my way to go since it will be getting an LED bar and not HUGE round lights.

I met another T4R owner yesterday that has a rack just like you are spec'ing...I'll see if I can grab a pic of the front of the GOBI for you, it is the same height as the other sides....

You should have no problems mounting a RTT on the Stealth. It will just be a few inches higher then if you were to use a Baja utility. I plan on running a Tepui tent on mine eventually.

I was really thinking about the Baja Utility to but ended up going with the Stealth just because of the look. I like the look of the Stealth much better.

Thanks. I've been thinking about moving toward an RTT lately, the Tepui Autana. It would fit how I camp better than the trailer tent I have now. You'll hear from me soon.

Jang- I'm waiting to hear back from one of the tech's over at Gobi about your custom request. Hopefully they get back to me within the next day so we can get the ball rolling on your rack. Did all of your Rigid's arrive already?

My Stealth rack showed up on Friday. I absolutely love the rack. The fit and finish are perfect. I'll get some pics up here in a little bit.

My Rack came in on Friday and I had it on my roof in about an hour and a half from receiving it. The install is very very simple. I would suggest having a buddy close by to help with lifting the rack but besides that, the install is very straight forward and simple. The directions are spot on.

I had Gobi make a custom mount for my Rigid SR40. I'll get a close up of the tabs they made for it. The work is top notch. I also opted for the sunroof insert which is not shown. The Hi-lift mount works perfectly. Overall, I can't wait to get some cargo on top of this thing. I love the look of it.
