Ahhhh crap, still need time to think about it. Are there instructions for the lower installation also?
Edit: I just noticed it stated in picture #7 that the access to the lower portion will be a breeze. I would like to see pics of the lower install also as this would be my First ever mod on any vehicle (that I did myself that is)

FYI I just checked the price of the upper OEM grille assembly. It is $236.41 list, so if you plan on doing the mod, that is how much it would cost to return it to stock. The price is pre-painted. Lower is 49.53. This may be a concern especially if you lease.
For some reason the gray surround lists for $166, but that may be a typo. I'm going to guess that is the TE grille and not the painted gray.

For the lower install, are pics 12-16 out of order? Some shots show the grill still intact while he's drilling and others don't. There was talk on the other grill mod thread that its easier to drop the front bumper, this seems like a royal pain in the ass. Also the TOYOTA emblem is now going to be held on with 2 sided tape and possible cotter pins?

Hey I had my front bumper off to do the Piaa 510's in the lower grill. While it was slightly confusing at first, I could probably do it again in 15-20 minutes without any problem. Just look at all the mounting screws and take your time, it will make sense as your doing it. As for the grill and emblem, I just received my custom grill (the one you have to cut yourself) and was planning on doing the install this week. Picked up some real good 3M tape and will also use the attached screw holes to mount it to the grill. Be sure to spray paint the a/c condenser before hand an anything else back there that is not black. I figure if I completely botch the custom grill, then I will order these GrillCraft ones. :gun6:
Just read through the instructions more carefully. I wasn't, initially, aware that this required you to cut the OEM grille and reuse the frame of the OEM grille. I like the look, but I hate not being able to go back to stock for a relatively small amount of money. I'm out, unfortunately. If it was a complete replacement of the plastic inner piece, I'd be game. I guess I just keep waiting and wishing that TRD would make a grille that looked the way I want.
Yeah, ditto. That's why I posted the OEM costs of the upper and lower. I'd need to add $286 to the cost to get an OEM set to return it to stock for resale/trade. Too bad you have to cut the old grille out. Seems like it would be a way to remove the grille and insert another one without cutting it up.
I'd be happy with an OEM style eggcrate and a TOYOTA emblem on it like an FJ.
