Grunt build

Great maintenance on the neck. Definitely going a good route making sure it's up to snuff on the little things.

As far as the window, get a small buffing wheel and you should be able to get it out.

Got the new neck in!

Here's how bad the old one was:

Here's a link to the thread about the replacement.

Nice little write-up BTW. I snapped my lower bolt too and ended up using a long drill bit and kludged extension with a 7mm tap to drill out and re-thread the original hole. Check it out here.

Good system. I have the same one on my 97. Have had it for about 14 years and still works great. Ya I bought my 97 new and over time things begin to rust and need replacing, but the engines last forever. Latest things replaced on mine were the four shocks and front strutts. Also check your power steering lines. Mine rusted and had to be replaced as well. Not cheap. Welcome and enjoy the 4Runner.

I never checked that, the steering is very responsive, but I'll check anyways. Thanks for the tip! The previous owner must have kept it garaged its entire life, the thing is pretty much brand new underneath!

My dad's friend said that as well, we are going to have him do it seeing as he was a race car mechanic when he was younger. I don't want to mess it up more haha

Jesus Christ almighty, that thing was bad! I take back what I said about mine being rusty haha, the "***** please" made that funny as hell!

Put some decals on!

Well, the rain worked to my advantage. The better looking of the two decals has bubbles in it because the bottom decided to stick good when I was laying it out so that I WOULDN'T have bubbles. With the raindrops on there, you guys can't see! =D Anyways the eagle w/ maltese cross I picked up at last year's fire chief show, the 9/11 one I got this year.

Here's the eagle w/ maltese cross, this is about a 3 inch-4 inch decal (haven't measured them)

Here's my favorite, got a shirt with the same thing on it, minus the ring around the outside.

This one is also reflective, so here's a shot of that (from camera flash)

And this is where I put that oneIMG_3954.jpg

And here is a shot of how far out my tires stick from the body. Not much, but probably killing my mileage. I don't have a problem with gas mileage at the moment, I am not driving enough to notice anything.

New pictures

Ok, nothing new, but what the hell. I took a few pictures(ok, more like 50) and narrowed them down to these couple of good ones.

lookin good dude!

Thanks, I have a couple things special coming for it for just in case, since as of right now I don't have anything in case I break down. Mini projects here and there, granny's credit card so my dad doesn't know haha. Been working on getting a small engine running for my Wheel Horse, and finishing up my level 1 for fire dept., so hopefully going on calls in the next week!

TRD emblem painted!

*NOTE* My dad told me he'd do everything so I don't "screw it up" to put it lightly, but as you can see by the pictures, he "screwed" it up with his crappy taping job. I went back and taped it off properly after he had put 3 coats on it, and now it actually looks decent.

I've never seen one with the paint scheme I decided to go with, everything black except the spots that are supposed to be white and red(which were chrome when I bought this vehicle) are still chrome. Here are some pics of the process:

Peeled the tape. Reveals how crappy my dad tapes things off =) (look at the bottom of the leftmost chrome diamond)

Now I just need to get it mounted!

Found the previous owner, but they haven't been active on here. Hepar, fightman80, Blcktpgsr, 4-ripcord, Suprareal, bajarunner, t4r4life, and a few more have commented on his threads. DAMN if only the pieces had been put together sooner lol. Oh well. The problems he's mentioned on his threads haven't been apparent to me, maybe the dealer fixed them before I got it?

HA HA! Awesome! You found the guy! I honestly didn't remember him, as he wasn't that active on here. Not to mention... there are so many nice looking rigs on here, who can remember them all?? Right???

True lol. shawn5800 is his username, everything matches up. He has yamahas, a mass plate, black grille w/ trd emblem, but the thing that caught my eye was a picture of his showing the back w/ the T4R sticker, couldn't see the Yamaha one in that picture. Checked the username, matches a name I remember from the glovebox. I was so happy to find him, until I saw all the problems he was having lol. Broken 4x4, smelly tranny, valve slap, headlights shutting off, and other things. Now I'm concerned.

Just make sure all of your maintenance is up to snuff and cross any other bridge when it comes. I think the best thing is to be aware of how your vehicle is running and to also keep an eye on your mpg's (a sudden drop will be a good sign of something amiss).

I was reading that the ticking could be from one of the belts, I checked and a belt has been replaced. The tranny works fine for me, though it is rather lurchy when you shift into drive. Not sure if I'm used to GM or something, but it likes to jump. Also found out a couple more things when I did a very close inspection, I'll post up a few pics in a bit.

Some problems

So I took a pretty close look at everything today. Opened the hood, and remembered that there is 3 zipties holding the grille on.

Here is one of the zipties, there is another on the opposite side(these are both up top) and the third is in the middle at the bottom.
7692655200_fddfbcb9bf_b.jpg

Here is how the rest are. No zipties, not held in place by anything.

Any ideas on how to fix that? New grille? Satoshi even?

Neither of the bumpers are stock, both are made in Taiwan. The front bumper has holes for the fender trim piece, which is not on this vehicle. Both bumpers were also plastidipped, which might have been to cover up this.

Custom bumpers eventually, I don't like the idea of having Taiwanese stuff on this.

And last but not least, the roof rack has left marks on the roof. I'm sure there is a bunch of threads on how to get that crap off, anyone have a link to a good one?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input.
