Hey everyone - thought I'd share this photo I took tonight of our 4Runner getting ready to tow "someone special" to a major event tomorrow. If you're a fan of 80s television (or at least remember it), I'm sure you'll have no problem recognizing this black beauty! I think I can say with certainty this a first in the long history of the Toyota 4Runner. :)

Man, for some reason I loved that show. Maybe it was turbo boost, or super pursuit mode, or the airplane yolk for a steering wheel that made no sense... it was all good.

LOL trust me - if I could cover it up somehow without worrying about the tarp tearing apart or the black paint getting all scratched up, I'd totally do it. A covered trailer was my preference. But the 4Runner has a tow capacity limit, and my setup literally puts that limit at the very max (just under 5000 lbs) :)
 
One of the original TV cars sold at auction recently. I am not a fan of the car in general, but loved the 80s car shows to include KR.
 
Loved that show growing up, it and Smokey and the Bandit were the main reason I bought a TA in 2000, man do I miss that car

I visited Kitt at universal studios when I was a kid. loved it.
even though I KNEW. plus, I could see the mic sitting behind the grill, so they were able to interact with the crowd.
 
If you saw CHiPs, you saw all of the freeways around where I grew up.

Many of them were under construction during the late 70's early 80's, making filming on them really easy. Glendale's 2 Freeway, the 210 through Sunland-Tujunga and Lake View Terrace.

Watching those old shows always brings back memories.

Yes I never saw it myself, but many people who see the car at conventions tell me the same story. They had someone sitting behind the scenes 'interacting' with the people who would sit inside. As a kid at the time I'm sure it was still an awesome experience.

Mega popular show from the 1980's called Knight Rider. KITT was a car with artificial intelligence that could do just about anything. It talked, it jumped over obstacles, it fired rockets, it was bulletproof. etc. Main star was David Hasslehoff, though many people (not all, but many) watched the show because of KITT vs. watching the Hoff. It's on Netflix and Youtube. Easy enough to dig up some episodes. :)

Airwolf was the bomb!! I loved that show. Then they decided to reboot it with Barry Van Dyke and totally killed it for me.

I loved Chips. The 30mph pileups on the highway were a riot!!!

Favorite 80s show: Miami Vice. Hands down.

MV was alright the whole Miami dress code tho turned me off
 
Who else loved the uber-cheezy show VIPER. It was so much like KR but had a dang Viper that in one episode grew its own lift kit and off road tires.
