Guess it's time for some flares

I just gotta vent here. I got pulled over the other day in my '86 and ticketed for my tires being too far away from the body. WTF?? I know there are laws about that here in Va. but I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket. Right now the "cool kids" are all doing this Hawaiian style look with 14" wide wheels with about 1" of backspace but yet me, with my 15x10 that stick out 2-1/2 inches gets a ticket. I could see maybe if I was in the city where lifted trucks are more rare but 1/2 the people in my town have lifted trucks with big Ol' fat Swampers. Ugghh. I guess maybe the cop owns a Jeep. Anyways I guess some Bushwackers are on the to do list now. I've been throwing that idea around in my head anyways guess this was just a sign. I gotta feeling once my 35's are on the popo will probably mess with me more anywas. Thanks for listening. I feel a little better now.

Bummah. The cop must of just been having a bad day.

I know what your talking with the Hawaii style... I dont get it either.

Pretty lame. But if you're really looking, I got a set hanging up in the garage I pulled off mine when i got it.

Nuts -mine stick out way further than that - I've never been messed with for it and I've had this long travel on for over 3 years..... Maybe fight it?

Throw different tires on it and show up in court. I doubt he would be able to prove it. Did it With a speeding ticket. He most likely won't show up anyway. Give it a shot

Yea I'll definitely go to court. Been talking to some friends that know this douche and apparently he's a rookie cop so he's just out showing his ass. I had a similar situation many years ago when I was in town for a huge car show and was pulled and given 7 tickets for my truck ('85 toyota p/u on hydraulics) and when I went to court the judge dismissed all of the cops tickets he had given that weekend and gave the cop a huge lecture on how the revenue that the car show gave the town pretty much bought out any pitty laws. I'm hoping this judge does something similar. Hell the judge in our town probably has a jacked truck.

Im not siding with the cop here, but those are way beyond the legal limit. You are nearly exposing half of the tire lol. Your rear fenders under the tail lights will be rusted out down the road from it. Get some flares for sure. It will still look cool if the flares dont extended past the tire width much.

I don't disagree at all that it's illegal. I live in Va. where pretty much everything you do to a vehicle is illegal. If he wasn't such a dumbass he would of nailed me for my bumper being 3" over the limit as well, but it's just rediculous to waste the time and money on this ticket. i hope the judge see's it the same way. If not it's like a $30 fine. Whatever. Wasted money on worse stuff.
