Gun safe

I have narrowed down my search to 3 in my price range american security fv6032, browning sportster 23 and winchester ranger. All basically the same safe and priced at 999 also champion has one in this price but was my least favorite
 
Get the most safe you can. You need to balance fire rating, volume, lifetime customer service.

well.....i spent a couple hundred extra and after looking online feel like i got a great deal. also being a one time purchase i feel like i wont have any regrets or wish i would have gotten a better safe. 761LBS and 90 min fire rating
 
Great safe. Nice investment. Just make sure she's bolted down and maybe make sure you can't see it from the window.

Nice safe. The good ones are really heavy. Make sure you get an Eva-Dry dehumidifier. It'll keep everything dry and reduces the chance of rust.
 
Nice looking safe!

I've got a basic 10 gun, which in reality holds 3 rifles and a bunch of handguns. I also weigh it down with lead.

As for humidity control, IIRC the NRA recommends 55%, any lower and wood stocks will shrink in time. I've had great luck with one of the heated bars across the bottom, keeps everything in check.
 
Bolt your safes down, folks.

A couple in our neighborhood had their house broken in to by pros, who carted off with their gun safe inside of 10 minutes while the wife went for a walk with their baby.

Luckily the neighbor across the street got it on camera and a different neighbor wrote down the plate number of the getaway car because she thought it looked suspicious. Also, it's pretty obvious they were being cased. The wife says she thinks she has seen the suspect car before while she was out on walks. Remember to keep general opsec and be aware of your surroundings.

Also it depends on how many rifles you want to store. If it says it holds 24 rifles, take at leat 6 off that, any safe will hold what they say if they are small rifles with no scopes, and crammed in there.

Dicks has good promos and can be applied to safes, plus free delivery on a safe is really nice lol

Most people don't have time in that situation to get up go to the room the safe is in an them open the safe. The newer fingerprint pistol safes seems to be fairly reliable and should do an adequate jobs of securing your home defense weapon of choice when your not home.

Just a heads up on these, my father had one for the hallway clearer and when he passed we couldn't get it open. Until a youtube video showed how to hit a corner just right and it opened right up. The idea is great just make sure it is anchored in a way smart and curious kids won't try to get in
 
Guys I love safes, I used to sell,service and install lots of them for various customers. When it comes to gun safes, those big ole heavy boxes make an impressive statement. Nothing against any brand or choice, but if budget is a concern then try those stack on type steel lock boxes. All safes(except those $5-10k special rated) are just thin sheet metal with drywall sandwiched between the layers. I can cut into most gun safes in about 10 minutes with a cordless grinder. My suggestion is to get a metal only cabinet, hide/disguise and insulate with 5/8 drywall. Also I like dial combos better than electric/battery style, the wires get pinched during battery changes and it's a pita. The single best defense against theft is to not appear to be a target (think about sticker choices, open carry, tee shirts, etc). The fire protection in most gun safes is terrible terrible at best. You can diy a better, but less polished product in a weekend with Home Depot stuff. Also rember that long term safe gun storage is not always compatible with easy deployment. Safe travels
 
A few years back i bought a BigHorn gun safe from Costco. Can't beat the price and curbside delivery. i'm very pleased with it. Weighs about 600 lbs so hopefully you have some good equipment to get it into position.

A tip for moving gun safes really easy if you’re on a tile or wood floor without breaking a tile or scratching the wood, cut a 10” tall strip of cardboard long enough to wrap completely around the safe and tape it together at the base. It should be able to slide up and down around the safe. Go down to the local driving range, buy a basket of golf balls, tip the safe back and put as many golf balls as you can under the safe and let the cardboard slide down to the floor holding the golf balls under it. You can wheel it around with one hand after that, move it in any direction, even spin it in place and the golf balls dissipate the weight beautiful. After your done moving the safe take the golf balls back to the driving range and have fun smacking some balls. Got this from a friend that delivered safes as part of his job and worked great for me when I had to move my safe into a space that would have been extremely difficult to get it into and it made it really easy.

hahaha thats a good one. Havent heard that before. If you are just putting it in the garage you can use a piece of pipe or conduit. i borrowed a 2 ton port-a-power from work and put it on top of 4 heavy duty steel triangle dollies. There is more than 1 way to skin a cat thats for sure
 
If I were to own a safe, which I do not because I do not own any fire arms (sold them all). I would probably own a sturdy safe but they are pricy, 1000 wouldn't get you to far
 
I own a Barska biometric safe and love it. It's small and could only hold a few handguns at best, but fits neatly in a nightstand. I love that it's not a combo lock. Easy for transportation too.
