GWNF Spring 2014

If the trip is in April I should have a bonus and have a lift by then. Still willing to go if I don't have the lift by then but I'm leaning towards April

I'm down!

I'm in for this trip... too far ahead to pick a date but as it gets closer I'll know more...
Look forward to it!

Definitely count me in for this trip. I have only wheeled 2 places, GWNF being the first, and Shoe Creek was the second. I haven't been out the GWNF in about a year and I've had the itch to get back ever since. As everyone above stated, its basically a fire road with some mild "obstacles" including some very shallow water crossings. It will be a lot of fun getting everyone together, meeting fellow members, and running a leisurely trail with great scenery.:thumb3:

Count us in! April sounds nice. Hopefully we can lock down a date soon!

Since we are new to off road world,We are going to cut our teeth at Shoe Creek next month. We have just 265/70/17 and Daystar lift for now. If we find that we need more by then we will have time. I might also might have my brother join us in his built FJ

I'd like to head back down, I went last July. Charlie probably will go too, I will know for sure when we have a solid date set.

i am soo down for this trip.. i just need a date to let others know also! i'm good for any thurs-sunday trip.. my gf would prefer thurs to friday but i know most can't do that anyways

I'd be down for an early April trip. I got a new tent for Christmas that needs to see some use.

I see that most people would be coming from the Hampton Roads area. If anybody coming from the DMV area want to meet up then convoy down, maybe we can set something up.

Ok I'm finally ready to go camping with the 4runner. I'm looking at the first weekend in April as a tentative date. The plan is to leave the Hampton Roads area the morning of Friday April 4th, camp 2 nights in the GWNF, then return on Sunday the 6th. My rig is bone stock except for a 1.5 in lift, so I won't be looking to run any hardcore trails. I just want to do some light wheeling and give my daughter (she will be 15 months old then) a chance to experience the outdoors. Who's in? Post up any ideas for trails, camping spots, etc here, and I will keep the top of this thread updated.

Possible Dates.

Apr 25-27

1. Shadow247

Time to start seriously thinking about a date!

I thought I wouldn't be able to make this trip, but plans have changed. Count me in, and let's get this gig rolling!

:usa2:

I might meet with you guys. As somebody else said, it's a bit far off to make plans, but I like to get there a couple of times a year. As some others noted, a basically stock truck can handle all the trails down there. I've been 4 wheeling/camping there since about '96 or '97 so if I can make it I don't mind leading a group around.

Jason is the man to guide you around. Now if he can get Ace to provide the entertainment y'all have a weekend you'll never forget. :D

Hi guys. I just found this thread and am very interested in going on this trip. My wife and I really enjoy camping, backpacking and hiking. I don't have much trail experience but I've been wanting to get my 4runner off road for some time now and wanted to do that in a group setting in the event that things went wrong. My name is Ken and I live in Yorktown. I've noticed that a few of you are local and quite close to me, so I would be willing to meet up on an earlier date to get to know some of you before the trip if you would like (just to avoid and first time meeting awkwardness). It doesn't appear that any dates have been decided on so I will throw out there that the dates the OP had picked originally, april 4-6, would work great for me as I have a 4 day weekend that weekend. Please let me know if you guys would like to meet up before the trip and if there is anything that I could do to help out with anything at all by shooting me an e-mail at [email protected] or sending me a PM. If you e-mail me put 4runner in the subject line or I won't open the email. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you local guys/gals. :nerd:

Turns out that I probably won't be able to go until May:

Mar 21-23 This may be the only weekend I can go. Too soon for everyone?
Apr 4-6 I have company coming into town.
Apr 11-13 I'll be out of town.
Apr 18-20 Easter weekend. Might be able to do something Friday or Saturday
Apr 25-27 Will be at Rausch Creek (Rausch Creek Off Road Park) that weekend.

We were talking on Facebook about getting the old crew back together. Possible party at Ace's later this spring. I'll let you know if/when it happens.

GWNF is the perfect place for this. The trails (roads) are totally doable in a stock truck, and totally doable by a complete newbie.

A few of us from an online group are going to Shoe Creek in GWNF this weekend.. we're arriving Saturday morning at 10am and will be camping over night and wheel on Sunday.
