GX470 Master Switch Compatibility

Not sure if anyone has bothered to compare the two, I finally got my hands on a GX470 in the shop so I popped the master switch out to swap with my 4Runner and see if it works.

Unfortunately it does not, the GX470 uses the older style pin switches unlike the 4Runner's slider for the physical switch mechanism and they utilize a different connector with more pins than the 4Runner switch so re-pinning the connector body is not doable.

Sigh... well back to looking for another OEM drop in replacement for full auto windows...

I read somewhere a while back that if you opened the master switch assembly, that the front level switch assembly was different, and was what gave that window the auto feature. It was postulated that you could disassemble three additional master switches, and transfer the front left "auto" rockers to your original master to make all of your windows full auto.

This would be very cost prohibitive. It would be much cheaper to use 2 DEI window modules to accomplish the same task.

I brought this up a long time ago, the older style Sienna, Highlander, and apparently the GX470 Master switches use small plastic pins to push on a plunger.The Auto up/down feature is "activated" by two additional pins (for 4 total plastic pins per window,) you could just take apart an old master switch for the little plastic pins, so you'd just need an extra from the junkyard. Unfortunately the 4Runner utilizes a different style set-up, much like the newer switches Toyota uses it has a dedicated slider mechanism that is harder to modify (unfortunately they retained the old style switch/button layout unlike the newer switches, making swaps difficult.)

Unfortunately, it's more than simply swapping out the master window switches, as you've found out. Each window switch, AND motor have more wiring to cover the added functions in the Lexus. A couple years ago I wanted to tackle this, but decided it wasn't worth the cost.

I believe it's do-able, but you will probably need to change out each door switch, each window motor, as well as add the necessary wiring, and mating connectors for the 4runner side to connect up.

Right, that was what I meant by more pins on the GX470 connector, I believe that's partially the older switch they used in the GX470 vs. the slider style like the 4Runner and newer models use. I finished the GX470 so I don't have that switch on hand to show anymore. But I'll see if I can snag an old switch and a new style switch to show the differences for you guys later.

Just out of curiosity has anyone popped off the driver side rocker and moved it over on the master switch set to a different location? If so did it work auto style when you pressed it? I didn't see anything in the wiring diagram that made me think the driver side motor had any wires or anything special. If that works and your like me you just have to get your hands on three off auto rockers...

Sorry to revive an old thread. I have been looking into this and reading all the posts. Why couldn't you swap in a GX door harness? It's slightly different where the speakers are other wise it looks like it will work.

If you want the auto one touch on all windows and at each door, I suggest you to just wire up 2 dei 530t, you'll need to run 2 pairs for 14awg speaker wires to each door, and wire it back to the modules.

it is cheaper to do this, than to run a oem harness that you don't know if that will be correctly wired.

the good thing with the window module is if you have an aftermarket alarm system, you can use the aux channels to roll the windows down, also during the arming process, it'll roll back up automatically.
