Hacked again

Hi All -

We've been hacked again, looks like by infamous "Anonymous". The hack was not distributing malware, but simply redirecting all traffic to jforjustice.co.uk website.

The hack has now been removed. Still investigating how they managed to get into our database.

For any of the mods that can't log into their account, please email me for further instructions: [email protected].

Thanks for everyone's patience with these recent hackings.

what did we do to get on "Anonymous" list?

Usually they are politically or ideologically motivated.

did someone take credit for it?
 
It could've just been a coincidence, but when I logged onto the site and it redirected me to the jforjustice page (or whatever its called), I immediately closed the window and tried and another link into the site. As soon as the site started to load I saw that it was redirecting me, so I immediately shut it again. Ran a quick virus scan and came up with a Win32/Alureon virus, which my security basically said was a real PIA, but I eventually I was able to get it removed.

could've just been a coincidence, but I guess it also could've attached something to my machine when it redirected me to the site :shrug:
 
My email address was used as a mass-spam client this week. I dont know if its related, but i hope no one else had this problem. I had to apologize to a lot of friends, relatives....and even ex girlfriends! Awkwarrrrrrd!
 
This latest hack attack is taken care of. Not sure about email addresses though, I'll dig through the logs, see if I can find anything.

I realized that i had received about 18 spam emails in my junk mail folder, just since last night. Dunnno....:ybrick:
 
Anonymous hit a lot of vulnerable vBulletin forums, and now all 4runner.org emails are filtered as spam now, at least on GMail.

I would ALWAYS ALWAYS suggest having different passwords for forums/email accounts/bank accounts/CC accounts/etc. This forums' database has been hacked along with passwords, cause I'm getting email from my steam account inwhich I had similar login for but they can't do anything due to not having access to my email account.

IF admin can confirm our email/passwords have been taken then (as already stated, they accessed our database) it would be a good idea to send a mass email to all members of this forum to change password and that such event has occurred so that people can have awareness.

Thanks admins for working out everything.. Damn Anonymous. Idiots still think they fight for freedom of the people.

No, it has not. What happened, as far as I could tell, is that the hacker was able to gain access to the admin section of this board and do three things:

1. Add a plugin that redirects users to jforjustice site
2. Add some redirection code to some posts
3. Send out emails from the Admin section

1 & 2 have been fixed and cleaned up.

As far as #3 goes, I've added an extra security layer (other than username/password) which should prevent unauthorized users gaining access to the Admin section.
 
Ah, that explains why I got some emails from a member here.. must use the same password for his login and email.

I called him and left him a vmail to change his password
