Had a leak...

Okay, I have had my 4runner just over a week now. Our first major rain was a couple days ago and I noticed my floorboards were very wet. As I chased down the leak, the guy that used to own it had stuck a huge speaker wire in the main grommet with the other power wires. He didn't run it through the center though, he pulled it out and sent it around the side leaving a gaping hole perfect for any water to drip in.

I siliconed up the leak but now have a soaking wet floor, is there any half way easy way to get the carpet out to dry it? I got it part way out but it seems attached in several areas.

Yeah, that was kinda what I was thinking, now if I can just get it done before it mildews. And of course, we have a dense fog advisory today lol, we have like 1 a year here in Georgia. :lol:

to add to this....

Keep the air moving around the wet area.
Put a fan on it, even out in the sun. If you can lift some of the carpet up, put a fan blowing under it also.

working at a full service car wash for awhile, the best thing to do if it mildews is sprinkle baking soda everywhere which will soak up all of it

Is this wire you speak of still run around the gromet? If it is and it is rubbing on the body and it is not properly fused, then you could potentially have a random fireworks show and smoke screen inside your truck! Or at the very least blow a fuse.

Make sure the wire is not rubbing on metal! I speak from personal expiriences....

I pulled it out when I found out what was causing the leak, It's a good heavy guage (I think 6) Power wire so I may use it to hook up my Ham radio in a few weeks. I did leave 2 smaller ones that I believe are running to the switch to my KC headlights, I temporarily used silicone on them and the grommet so it should be good for a while. As soon as I run the wires again I will run them through the smaller grommet to the left of it, and properly seal it.
