Had my 30K service yesterday

Came to be about $157. Have an appt to get the seat back replaced due to the crunchy lumbar support issue. Glad Toyota put a service bulletin out on it. Also, the headlights were starting to chalk up on me already. My belief is that it's due to the black trim underneath causing the plastic to cook. Looks like they wont have to be replaced for now, just polished the hell out of em and they look brand new.

Anyway, Toyota of Melbourne, Fl is pretty good, except for the douchebag salesman who made a wise crack of "military flyers get all the cool toys" (was there in my flight suit) and then had the audacity to try to interest me in a new Camery? WTFO!!?

In another note, i finally put in the WeatherTech digital fit floor liners, and i freaking love them. Sooo much better than floor mats. Now im eagerly awaiting for my LED interior lights to arrive.

Next week, im FINALLY upgrading the wheels/tires.

30K Service Question

Paragon1,

Can you elaborate on what gets done during a 30K service? I'm due for mine in another month or so. And I'm just wondering if it's worth it.

Top-off fluids, Oil/oil filter Change, Rotate wheels, Air/Cabin Filter, re-torque driveshaft, and
an extensive multi point inspection. To be honest, you can probably tell them to skip the air filter changes and save yourself $70, then get your own and install them yourself. I tried to get a free wash out of it (living in a beach town makes it impossible to keep the car clean) but they wouldnt hook me up.

Oh, and if you're runnign higher PSI (40+ instead of the factory 32) make sure they keep it there. My opinion is not only are the tires too narrow and more suited for a minivan, 32PSI is WAY too soft for a car that weighs 3 tons!! Besides, higher PSI ='s better gas mileage

I wasn't car shopping, I was picking up my car from the dealer after leaving work, where.... wait for it... wait for it... I'm authorized to wear it.

Whats with the comment man? There are no AFI's of DoD regulations in place at this time disallowing the use of flight suits as UOD.

Dont quite get where a Navy Chaplain thinks he can out someone in the Air Force that he's wearing his uniform inappropriately.

GVW is 6300
The GVW includes the total of the weights of a vehicle's chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo

Basically you take the GVR and subtract it from the curb weight to see how much crap (people and gear) you can safely carry in the vehicle. In the case of the SR5 4x4 is comes out to 1625 lbs.

I know how it works, i should have re-written to say "potential weight of..." considering you drive with pretty much everything you listed minus about 700 lbs of gear. Bottom line, the tires are too weak/small/inferior etc... for this vehicle! Especially when they combine that with only 32psi inflation!!

Yup...if one were to load up their truck to the max GVR and tow the max 5K lbs, these tires simply aren't up to the task.

It all comes down to the common purchaser who wants good MPG and a nice ride vs. the 2% that get a T4R for using it like it's able to be used.
