Had my Evap replaced. Cools but air flow from vent is weak now.

Hello guys

The air flow from my vents is weak. Got the Evap replaced and the force of air seems greatly decreased after replacement. Installed a new cabin filter at the same time. Low, Medium, Hi all work and the speed of the fan motor changes with every setting. 2008 Sport
Is there a reset procedure to follow afterwards? Maybe a calibration of the blend door actuators?

Would appreciate any and all input.

Kind regards

The only thing I can think off is that instead of using a regular cabin filter, I used a charcoal one. The charcoal filter seemed a little thicker. That may be the culprit. Will remove that filter and see if it makes any difference.

Was wondering if any of you guys experienced lower air flow with changing over to charcoal filter?

Take it back to whoever did the AC evaporator replacement, they either didn't get the blend doors actuators install correctly or they damaged the actuators which are very delicate if not handled and install correctly!!

The cabin filter shouldn't affect the air flow that much if at all!

For the cost of labor a garage charges for replacing these T4Rs evaporators there shouldn't be any issues afterwards even thought it is labor intensive to replace they charge for that labor so they should be held resposible for it being done correctly!!

Thank you for your reply. The T4R is still in the garage so I'll let them know.
Do you know if there is a reset procedure for the blend door actuators like in GM and dodge vehicles after install to get them properly re-calibrated?

Regards

There's no "re-calibration" so to speak, they just have to be installed correctly in how they connect to the blend door/s, I haven't had to replace mine, but there are posts/topics on this forum discribing how they should be installed.

had the same experience, noticed that the recirculate button/vent wasnt working anymore, as outside air still got into the car when it was supposed to be closed, closer inspection revealed that it had jumped off its tracks, found a way of pushing it back, and my airflow became normal again

Thank you for this..!! So were you able to get to the blend door by removing the lower panel? How did you push it back. Did you just push it? How did you inspect it? Did you have to remove it? And where is that one located? I'd like to bring this up with the tech on Monday first thing in the morning. This would help tremendously.

Thanks again,
Regards

I agree, they need to fix it, part of why I never let anybody work on my vehicles as nearly always had problems.

The major tip off is when they will only go by the book price which nearly always seems very high then they rush through the job thinking more about how much money they are making more than doing it well. Sad but very true in a huge percentage of repairs, dealers and independents alike but dealers are often the worst in this regard.

Of course your situation may be different, might be a very honorable and competent shop/tech that just made an error which we all do at times.

I actually took a year old Duramax dually to the dealer for a blend door warranty and it worked just fine, I have one in our 400HP Fiesta ST I am going to do myself though as the dealers are having a problem doing it right and or putting in a known weak part as that is all they can get. I will make a metal part to replace the plastic one instead.

OK, blabbering on a bit here, a bit of a prelude to recommending DIY, some basic tools, basic skills easily learned online and a little practice and a huge number of mods and repairs are pretty easy to do even on the road or outback.....

I am off the soapbox now, have a great day, let us know how it goes:)

Update

The mechanic said that he disconnected the battery for about an hour. Flow is restored. I guess something reset? Anyways, I'm thrilled. I'd like to thank all those who took the time to reply and gave me such great advice.
