replaced the right light too
part # 90010-09017
The right side one just burned out, so I picked up a pair and got it replaced. It outlived the left one almost 3 years. I would have replaced both last time but the dealer only had 1 in stock, on a weekend.
I'd trouble unplugging the white wire connector from the back of the module. I pinched the tab and yanked it but it seemed tight. There was plenty of room to replace the bulb with the wires on, just a bit awkward. Can't remember if I'd the issue fixing the left one.
Some local dealer parts asked for $7+ a light.

Thanks to all who posted information on this thread. I just bought a 2003 V8 4Runner and this was one of the problems when I bought it. I picked up a bulb from Amazon for about $5 and thanks to the posts here the replacement took about 5 minutes tops.

This is a piece of cake. It takes longer to scroll through the how-to pictures than it does to replace the bulb, assuming you have the bulb on hand. I had to drive eight miles to the Toyota dealer out by DFW airport to buy bulbs. Replaced both at the same time while I was in there.
You really don't need to disconnect the wiring harness if you have a mini flat tip screwdriver. It's less than a five minute job.

I see where you guys are getting the part numbers from.
I went to my dealer and gave him my info and VIN. He gave me an orange long bulb. I assumed that was the one that I needed.
When I got home and took the bulb out, I saw that he gave me the wrong one. I took out a clear short bulb. I went back and he matched up my old one with another one. There was no way that the long bulb would have fit in there.
The bulb that he gave me was: 90010-09017. The one that actually fit was: 90084-81003.
This tells me that the chart that he had and that I've seen on the forum isn't correct for my vehicle. Now, I wonder what chart is for my vehicle?
If I would have taken out the bulb from the panel first and then went to the dealer, I would have saved myself a 30 mile trip.

This light went out a few weeks ago when it was negative 15 here in MT. A few days later I had it at a toyota garage to have the transmission fluid changed. They said they'd replace the bulb for $70. I said, nope. Turned on engine, and firmly tapped the screen a few times. Light came back on. Go figure.
