Half door plans?

Ok, so I get a new to me DD starting Friday! So I plan to start the half door design and cutting by Saturday. I still haven't nailed a plan down.

While I know I can google a million pics of half doors, does any one have (or seen) a specific plan or detailed blueprint for a half door design? Is there anything I need to specifically look out for?

I have never seen a set of blueprints or any real "plans" for half doors. I think most people just wing it. There is nothing exact on the half doors because at that point none of your internals are going to be used. Just plan out your door latches and handles and go from there. Keep us posted and post lots of pics!

I am not a body work kind of person, but since I have a complete extra set of doors, why not! If I screw it up royally I can slap the extra set of doors on and go about my business.

I would like to get a closer look at fourwd1's half doors if he happens to see this. I am a monkey see, monkey do kind of person. It helps when I have something to copy.

Does the top arch of the door need to be kept for any reason? I may have a design decided on, but I'd like the top arch gone.

I have designs in my head for some half doors. When I build mine I'm keeping the top arch on. That will allow me to fab some removeable upper doors like what the jeeps have. Except I want to keep the upper arch so it will have some rigid structure for weather stripping.

Never thought about the eventual removable top half. It rains so rarely here, that I don't think about weather much.

Now that I do think about it, I'm not going to worry about it. I have the extra set of doors. With quick release hinges I should be able to switch as needed. I need to make a wiring disconnect so I can take the winter doors on and off easily. I'll carry a tarp in case I get caught in a sudden downpour in the summer.

A buddy of mine in penrose may have some half doors already made up. They would be front's only. If your intrested ill give him a call tomorrow.

They are already cut. Just having a hard time figuring out how to cap them. I don't weld.

Toyota OEM door + Chainsaw = halfdoor!!!!!! bwahahaha

its really all on what you want and what your using them for. im in the middle of taking a set of mine and chopping them. im keeping the outer door handle and keeping it functional and im making them out of 2 window doors so ill keep the mini window for a wind deflect.
its all how YOU want it to be.
