Sup guys. I've began the project of removing the wheel arch rust from my 2nd gen. and I'm seeking advice on some different options I'm entertaining. I'll be making a build thread here soon but I wanted to inquire about some rust related stuff separately, so this is for you guys/girls who've got some experience on that.
I'll start by saying that I'm not going for showroom quality body work here because I'm gonna paint the whole truck in monstaliner and drive it in the woods. I'm aware that the BEST thing to do is cut out as much of the rust as possible and weld in new metal. But I want to ask about some potentially less labor intensive ideas I'm having. Here are a couple pics to show you what I'm dealing with:

As you can see, I've started cutting out around some of the larger holes where there's nothing behind it to put filler on. Obviously I'm going to have to weld in metal or patch with fiberglass cloth there. But on the smaller stuff up top where there is a backing, I was thinking I would hit it with the grinder really well, seal it with Chassis Saver Silver Aluminum, then just fill with bondo or fiberglass, then prime again with silver aluminum, then do the Monstaliner. Is this a viable option? I imagine that it would be quite solid once I did that and last several years. Thoughts? Help!
If you're not familiar, Chassis Saver has some photos on their site of a rather extensive patch job using their silver aluminum product and fiberglass cloth. The paint is filled with aluminum flake and basically hardens into a piece of sheet metal which they then Monstaline over. These are from their site:
