One thing for me is that mine needs to be hidden when I stash the remote face. Too many tweakers that would break into a vehicle around here and steal a radio if they see it. By putting the transceiver in the center console or under a seat, as soon as I pull the headunit and tuck the mic away, it's invisible.

I was going for an OEM look and mounted the head unit right above the radio. To mount it I used an L-bracket from Home depot and a 3D printed mount (Kenwood TM-D710 faceplate flat mount by grogers_ftn - Thingiverse). The L-bracket is just stuck between the dash and the center console but it's very solid. I ran a flat Cat5 Ethernet cable up on the driver side of the center console. The flat cable was very easy to tuck away without removing the center console.

LOVE this.. Im trying to figure something like this out.. am I reading this right, you used just an "L" bracket between the radio bezel and the dash?

well I got it 99% done today, Im still waiting on an mic extension but anyways. I did hide the control cable better, so its not seen.

Dragging this up from the grave to post a pic of my install. FTM-400XDR also have a radiodity cb in the cubby.

Looks good, the FTM-400XDR is a solid radio.

I’ve been meaning to get one myself for my entry into digital but I bought a sat com device instead.

Lmao taco holder I was just referring to this with a friend of mine yesterday. I put the face of my V71 in the same place. Perfectly out of the way. Also where I landed the switch for my motorized antenna mount

Hey quick question, what type of mount did you use to secure your head unit into the taco holder? I want to do the same thing as you but I am not sure hot to mount.

I ended up using a Scosche Mag Mount. I fabricated a thin steel plate that bolted to the back of the head unit, and stuck solidly to the mag mount.

I also ended up installing it down in the dash in my new truck. It worked well in the taco holder, but I wanted a switch panel up there in the new truck.
