Ham radio mount

Most of them, if not all, have an audio out for an external speaker to give you a little more volume. Not so sure about running it to aux in!
Think that would work or would it create some awful feedback?

it will work fine, you aren't listening and transmitting at the same time
I used velcro to attach the main unit to the carpet under the front passenger seat. The attached the face plate to the cubby hole with velcro. Ran power directly to the battery. Radio is THT TH-9800, antenna HH-9000, on a Diamond K-400 trunk mount.

a few nights ago I finished my install. Running a YAESU FTM-3200DR.
Very clean job, did you have to cut a lot out for that to fit? Looking at the same radio for my truck.
You'll need to fully cut the back of the pocket. It's tight as the A/C tunnel for the back seats is routed right behind that. Here are a few pictures, I used a heat gun to melt the A/C duct and had to trim a portion to make the antenna connection fit in. I could have maybe cut A LOT and made it more flush but didn't want to kill the air flow to the back. [MENTION=134477]Toyojay[/MENTION]
I also picked up this antenna on eBay, I wanted something small and stealthy. I know its not the best but I've used it almost all day, NOA Weather and simplex without a problem. I guess for $15.96 cant really beat that...

Which mount is that? Can you snap a side shot with the hood open? Also, did you have to cut or melt the plastic inside the engine compartment?
Thanks..! the YAESU FTM-3200DR has a small heat-sink fan in the back, that was one of the reasons I picked this unit. Florida is very flat, I'm not sure what the rage is, but it's worked so far with "0" problems.
Thanks, I really don't know a lot about HAM. Just reading around and studying for the license test. I just kept looking till I found one with similar specs to my Dimond M285s. The mount is a CBI and you can get it on the passenger side or the drivers side. Most use these for lights, you'll need to open up the whole a bit to make it work.

I'm not 100% sure, looks like it does based on the specs but I'm still learing so don't know if it does or not.

After you routed the coax throught this gasket, where did you have the coax exit the rear hatch?

I was surprised after reading all of the ham xcvr install posts that no one is using an on- glass antenna. I had a Larsen 2m on-glass antenna for years and it worked great. I am in the process of installing a new Connect Systems dual band, DMR/analog xcvr in my 5th gen. I found an on-glass dual band antenna that gets great reviews- model is Tram 1191

I find this idea very appealing. Where would you mount it? Obviously the rear window rolls down (best T4R feature!) so that's not a great option...
