Handgun mounting solution without drilling into center console

Howdy,

I found a few topics in the 5th gen for mounting a pistol but they all require drilling into the center console.

How do y'all carry? I'm looking for a viable solution for a righty that DOESN'T REQUIRE DRILLING. It doesn't matter if it's concealed or not since I have a CCP.

This is how I'm currently running my XDS. As you can see, its still retained in my IWB holster and the pistol can't be removed without the holster coming with it. It could be a huge burden if SHTF.

Remora holster between seat and console is what I'm doing now. Not elegant but functional.

One in the console, one in the glove box, one on the belt. Try a belt holster rather than IWB for in the car. Paddle holsters can be a quick switch from IWB.

Just my opinion, but I like the element of surprise better myself. I like the idea of it being on the person better, I don't like to advertise. Everyone has their own way of doing everything, no answer is wrong.

Pouch sewn into the front of my Wet Okole seat cover. Pistol on one side and extra mag on the other.

Probably a crappy idea if in a big accident, but then again...

I'm in the same camp. Why worry about being separated from the only thing protecting you from the baddies? I'd recommend just getting a comfortable holster and learning to carry while sitting down.

I just leave it in my IWB holster. In all honesty, I rely more on my vehicle to move than I do ready access to my pistol. A vehicle can be quite the effective weapon.

I keep my G19 in the center console without a holster, i keep it organized as to keep it in there firm, yet enough i can still make a solid draw on it. But basically if it comes down to it, its just there to use until i can get to the back to grab a rifle.

This is the BEST THREAD EVER! We AZ people live in the "Wild West" and know all about this.

I agree with the "car is a weapon" theory. I too carry a G36 but will use my vehicle at all costs. The gun is an "extra" for me.

I have that Salex center console organizer, and in one of the "squares" it creates, I wedged a DeSantis pocket holster (they're kinda sticky on the outside) and my Walther PPK. It's a good fit, and I can pop open the center console and draw the pistol quickly without the holster coming with it.

I tuck my XDs between the seat and console and my muscular buttocks applies enough pressure to hold it. I have thought about getting one of those sticky sided pocket holsters (Remora?) to see if that would be more secure. And I think Desantis makes one that's covered in little rubber buttons like gardening gloves.

THE NEMESIS Holsters, Belt Holster, Taurus Judge Holster, DeSantisHolster.com

SO I will be trying the sticky holster in the amazon link because I actually have one somewhere in my house. I used it for about a year and a half and it was ultra comfy. I recently switched to kydex IWB just to try something new.

I will be using the sticky holster between the seat and console as people have suggested. I'll report my findings back.

Not so far fetched when you think about those stranded motorist in NC the other week. I'd think nothing of dropping the hammer and plowing through a crowd to protect me and my family.

Get yourself a gun magnet, install it inside of the center console (circle in red) with gorilla glue so that its hidden from sight and you can just stick your gun to the console and it wont fall off. Some magnet can hold 25 lbs of weight so it wont fall off when your driving and you will need to pull it to get if off, plus it easy to get to.

Sadly.... I think the way things have been going the entire country is the "Wild West" right now.

Just read an article about a teacher in TN who talked a kid out of shooting teachers and LEO.... and yet that story is buried because it doesn't "sell"...

Ugh, it's down right scary raising kids today.

Back on topic, I've always felt "on body" was best but since I recently started to carry AIWB I've been looking for a transition as pulling off the seat belt and a quick draw from seated position isn't optimal.
