Hankook Dynapro MT 295/75r16s on your 3rd gen

I hate to post a stupid tire question like this. But its time for new tires and im looking at 295/75 16s instead of the usual 285/75 16. The only viable option for me in this size is the Hankook Dynapro MT. I dont want to run 285s anymore, my Duratracs seem tiny compared to other 285s and i dont want an E rated tire.

So long story short, who has/is running them? Pics? Reviews? Thanks!

Per calculations your looking at about .6" taller and .4" wider. I think it would run just fine. I love my 305/70r16's. Wish there where more tires in the 295 size.

I was gunna be the guy to start this thread a few days ago also. I think today Is the last day you can find these on eBay for 712$ shipped for all four.

I have them and they measure exactly 9" wide tread lug to lug at the wide point. They are 33.5" tall at 35psi on 8" wheels no taller I gaurantee.

I would like to jump into this line of questioning, but from a different take. What gear are you guys running with essentially these 33" tires. I have 4.10's and from what I gather it would be a bad idea to run tires that size.

Anyone have some real life experience?

I run these same exact tires on my rig in 285/75/16s and are ran with stock 4.10 gears and the only major thing ive noticed is gas mileage and loss of power. if you can deal with the gas mileage not bad. I love my Hankooks have about 12,000 miles on them and still are measuring at 13/32 or close to that.

I had them on 16x10s for a about 2 years (~20k miles). Pretty quiet for a mud terrain. When I took them off they still looked brand new. 295/75/16 is a nice compromise between 33s and 35s. Got rid of them for some 315/75/16 Nitto all terrains.

Do you have a body lift? did you trim that front bumper to make those tires fit?

These tires measure 33.5" and exactly 9" wide on the tread. They are narrower on the tread than my 285 duratracs by 1/2". Last week while at a tire shop they had both the MT and the ATM out on display in the sun. I stuck my hand in to feel the thickness of the sidewalls. The ATMs were much more malabor and thin feeling. The mt's felt thicker. That's when I started thinking are all 2-ply side walls created equal. I mean 2 plys of 10mm polyester must be stronger than 2 plys of 4 mm polyster. Is there a industry standard for ply thickness? Here that are on on lx 450's clearing 231's with a little griding on the caliper.

I put them back on today and will running them this weekend.

TBuzz, do you have any pictures of where and how much you grinded off your calipers. I really want to remove my spacers, but can't because of my LC wheels and 231's.

Just purchased some of these in 295/75/16. Had some 315/70/17s on my 2013 Tacoma and I loved them! Great tire.

Hey! Great thread & memories! My first time buying MT's & 2.5 years later & I have no complaints! I read that MT's suck in the rain, not these!
