Harbor Freight winch

How did it work out when mounting in the bumper? Any clearance or routing issues you learned that one might want to avoid?
I haven't had time to melt the winch yet, but it's on my spring / summer project list

We had a Harbor Freight winch on a Jeep for years and it worked every time we needed it. We worked it pretty damn hard and I was sure it would have burned up right away being a china-made winch but it lasted 6-7 years before we sold the rig. For the price of them, they are probable just re-branded from other more popular winches anyway. For the cost, it's kinda hard to beat. Especially when you can get ~100' of synthetic rope and a fairlead off eBay for about $100. I also don't ever wheel alone so if it did happen to fail, I wouldn't be overly screwed.

Thanks for the feedback regarding use

What is a hi-lift winching kit?

Take a look at the pictures here... my jack came with some of the items minus the chain for winching / spreader.

I think it's also worth mentioning I bought this jack because it said "X-TREME" in the title... never fails, it was the right move.

My last 2 warn winches are made in China, so i guess you get to pay extra for the brand and the extra sticker.....

I've had mine for about two years. The only problem I've had is with the remote, which I stupidly left under the hood and subject to getting submersed in mud (yes, not my proudest decision). I "upgraded" to the wireless controller. I've used it probably 7 or 8 times so far in various scenarios. Haven't had a problem with it yet. I've considered taking it off to reduce the weight since I never wheel solo, but it is nice to have it as an option.

If I was buying one new, it probably wouldn't be at the top of my list, but I got it out of my cousins garage basically "Open Box" for about $120. It's definitely been worth that!
