Hard start with a twist?!?

Hello all and thanks for any future advice i may receive for my 96 with a v6. I removed and replaced the contacts in my starter after many occurrences of it stopping turning over until one day it became stuck engaged.

Ever since i re did the starter, i have to crank the engine over for many seconds before it will start and it seems to be getting worse and worse to the point i am afraid it just wont start one day. Once it does start it starts instantly without lagging and runs decent. Starting seems to be unfazed by temp or pushing on the accelerator.

I changed the spark plugs but i dont think it is related to general tune up because of the relation to repairing the starter. I have searched many of the threads, but none of them have this correlation. any thoughts? thanks

Hard to think of a direct connection between replacing the contacts and what you are seeing. More likely the problem caused some damage elsewhere in the circuit. Take a look at this:

I'm thinking one of the relays involved got semi-fried from all the extra cranking before the fix. But that is just a WAG. Follow the troubleshooting procedures in the FSM and you will usually track it down.
Don't get scared off by the Toyota hand tester part, keep reading and it shows how to test without it.
