Hard to find Specs, Info & Measurements on 231mm 13WL Tundra Calipers & Rotors

You got Trae's front bumper because he helped me install mine. Wow, what a pain it was. That changed his mind about wanting the SW front. BTW... My 4Runner hauled your bumper from Houston to Dallas.

Just got off the phone ordering my 231mm calipers from napa. The guy specifically mentioned that I have to bring back the same caliper to him for the core...

Maybe he's experienced people doing a sneaky swap before?

I'm worried its not going to work out now...

I'm not sure it's ethical to take back cores that are different from what you received. It would depend on whether it actually mattered to the manufacturer or not.

If the manufacturer doesn't care and can use any cores then go for it, but if they want specific cores, and expect such, then I'd personally have a problem trying to trick them in to accepting different.

Yeah. I mean if I have to pay the $55 core charge, it's not the end of the world. That being said, the 4runner caliper is worth just as much to them. It's still a good OEM toyota caliper.

Other options on rotor/ Pad combos? I am going to be doing the 231 swap soon since my fronts have developed a little squeaky squeak.

I have EBC green pads and rotors on my G35 sedan, good brakes and quiet while stopping and normal dust. Only thing is they are noisy when inching forward... Like at a stop light if you lift the brake pedal half way and inch forward it seems to make noise on grab and lift. Nothing major but def noticeable.

I looked in to this as well and was steered away from the EBC stuff in favor of StopTech by those in the know. I did the StopTech slotted rotors and regualar o'l Wagner pads and have been very happy.

I still have a few sets of caliper decals left if anyone still wants some. I'm gonna stick them on Ebay after the first of the year.

Cool, I will check them out. I really have been happy with NAPA's house brand of pads "Adaptive One" So I will look into some of the StopTech Rotors and the NAPA pads.

Also, I would take a set of the decals off your hands. PM me if you still have a couple.

Not sure if it matters to you or not -- and I'm sure you read it, but BFAD mentions some Napa pads having chamfered edges, which many indicate may reduce the stopping power due to the reduced contact area.

Just a thought. I actually went back to Toyota and purchased their brake pads with the separate shim kit. More expensive, but made me feel all tingly and warm inside...

My Wagner pads have a chamfered edge. It's a noise abatement feature. I still noticed quite a bit more stopping power vs. the factory setup and much less fade after several hard stops during the bead in procedure. Just putting that out there.

Good deal. I'm new to a lot of this, so I took the most conservative (not $$-wise, obviously) approach.

By the way, I just watched your Lift Install video -- good work. You seem very thorough, which makes me feel more comfortable getting those chamfered pads next time :

Thanks, I'm glad some folks have gotten use of those videos. I enjoy doing them. Maybe Powerblock TV will offer me a job :juggle:

I watched the Caliper prep and painting one and afterward found myself searching the interweb for some G2 Caliper Paint.... You did some serious finish work on those calipers. Turned out beautifully.

Any luck returning your old calipers? I was going to ask why you didn't go with the no core charge option from Amazon, but I see now that you're in Canada. Is that why you went with Napa instead?

Does anyone know if the 231 mm calipers will clear the FJ 80 wheels? I searched and some people said yes and some said no.
