Has anybody ADDED a rear sliding cargo tray?

Wish I could give you mine. Never needed or used it. It was just there when I bought it.
Not sure how that would give you a level sleeping area though.

I tried to order one to go in mine when I bought it in January, but the parts guy at that dealership looked at me like I was an alien. So I don't know what to tell you. There are a couple of nice build threads in here from guys who built up storage boxes in theirs. Once done they had a level bed with the rear seat folded and a shallow storage area. I wish I'd subscribed to at least one of them.
On a side note THIS MAKES MY 100TH POST!!!! Where is that hidden discussion area for the uppity folks?

3WB- I know what you mean...they look at me like i have 3 heads too whenever i mention the rear cargo tray. And yes, i have seen some of the builds...very nice. I just don't have the time to come up with something that nice.

Thanks T4R...that's nice. In the '14's it's not level in the back unless you have the rear sliding cargo tray. At least that's what I've been told on several occasions.

Withe sliding tray you gain a level surface, extra storage compartment, and a sliding tray. I removed mine an installed all the oem floor and trim pieces. Only miss the extra storage compartment .
Picked it up at Home Depot, along with all the rest of the supplies. I saw all of the storage options that people have built but honestly I just needed a level floor for when I'm camping, and I'll take it out when I'm back to civilization. The whole thing cost <$40 and took maybe 1.5 hours to build. Nothing fancy!
Unless you found one that was a taken out from someone, ordering all the parts from Toyota is close to impossible (you would have to go order parts by parts, there is not "kit"). It is not even a "port install" option, the trucks come over with it or without it from Japan.
There are probably members on this forum who had them out and maybe for sale or for free. Quite a bit of work to install/remove.
That's why I am hunting out an aftermarket solution (but that solution do not provide the "so call" level sleeping surface; while personally, I wouldn't consider the tray a "sleepable" surface. [MENTION=107827]boulderER[/MENTION] 's solution is the most elegant, simplest and best "sleeping surface" solution I have seen).

Right. So maybe better/more detailed question: If I were to come across all of the parts out of someone's rig for free/cheap and was willing to spend the time to carefully do it, is it feasable to add it to my '14 Trail? Is my truck "prewired" for lack of a better term to accept the tray? Would the other person's truck be missing anything (trim) and if so, could I provide them that part in exchange?

I'm pretty sure it is technically doable. You need to pull your rear carpet and see what the floor looks like. But I have the impression from the several discussions that have taken place in here that it is basically just a parts swap.
