Has Anybody Replaced Their Own Engine Mounts On The V6?

I've done a lot of searching and can't find much mention of 4th gen motor mounts in this forum. I replaced my mounts in my 1st gen Tacoma and it wasn't that bad. I'd really like to see a how-to on it but I've come up dry in all my searches.

My Tacoma had the 2.7L I4 which didn't weigh much. It had a stout steel oil pan and I was able to lift the engine from below to get enough clearance to do the mounts. Is that possible with the 4.0 V6? I'm worried about crushing the oil pan and I don't have any way of lifting the engine from above.

Its not too hard to do it. The same process you used on your Tacoma should work once you remove all the skid plates. Then loosen the motor mount bolts, and use a piece of wood on the jack, and jack up the motor from the oil pan. Throw the new mounts in and youre good to go. The only hard part is getting to the mounts with a wrench, its a pretty tight space.

Thanks. On the Tacoma I was able to get to both of them through the wheel wells after removing the splash liner (or whatever it's called). The passenger side was a breeze with plenty of room. The driver side was a PITA but doable. I remember having to loosen the rear mount (aka transmission mount) to allow enough flex in the system for the engine to actually rise off of the front mounts.

Pretty much the same thing here?

Use a 2x4 on the pan rail, not under the pan, and you'll be good.
