I have a 2011 limited with this issue that is about to drive me up the wall. I have 40000 on this car so the dealership is not wanting to fix it under warranty. For anyone that has a 5th gen they will know that there is no way for this problem to be cause by me, because the plastic is too thick to cause damage if it were hit by something. The spot gets bigger as the temperatures get colder.

I recall reading something about this in the owners manual. I think it says something like this is a phenomenon that occasionally happens with LCD screens and it’s considered normal. If I find it again I will post it.

That's interesting. I'll look and see if I can find some info on it. These vehicles sure cost a lot of money to have crap like this staring at you.

Page 202 in my 2013 owners manual under "Liquid Crystal Display" section explains what you are experiencing.

Evidently the manuals are different. Mine doesn't say anything about it. As many flawless LCD screens that are out there, who would think that this is normal?
