I really dont see why anyone would need this... Dont get me wrong, Im not knocking this, but I just dont understand... Is the original cable not long enough to reach with what ever that new battery the guy was installing? Because I would deffinately not do this untill the cables got damaged or corroded.... I dont think that stepping up a guage or two would help with what little amps car and truck alternators can but out... not if your wanting to push out 75+ Amps.. I would say yeah, maybe bigger is better.....

5th gen alternators output, IIRC, is either 120 or 130 amps. If you're running a large car audio system, or a winch, or a ton of lighting, the big 3 will help with distribution and almost eliminate resistance due to the smaller gauge wiring from the factory.
Older vehicles benefitted from this a lot more than newer vehicles, I've done this to my '87 truck and have eliminated engine noise from old, worn out ground cables to the engine and frame, as well as reduced the resistance from the battery to the vehicle's electrics inside the cab and elsewhere.
The big 3 will probably not do anything for a stock vehicle with no extra items that put a drain on the system, but running a few amps or a light bar and rock lights, and most definitely a winch, the big 3 will help quite a bit!
