Is it possible to haul a canoe or kayak on top of a gobi rack? If you have can you share which rack you have and your setup?

I used to use a Malone kayak rack, now I just throw my kayak up there and strap it down.

I do it all the time, just slide it up there and secure it with ratchet straps. Was thinking about getting some Thule or Yakima mounts but I've found that they aren't really necessary. This is the only picture I have, I've since switched to mounting it right side up and weave the straps through the seat mounts in the boat. That also allows me to move it further forward on the rack.

I have the Gobi Stealth and carry a whitewater kayak up there frequently. It's very easy. I recommend getting the adjustable cross bars. That way, you can move them in relation to where the kayak cockpit sits on the rack. I put some of the foam pads on the cross bars to protect the boat. Be careful with the ratchet straps. If you torque them too much, you will bend or crack your boat. You can use them; you just have to be aware of it. I prefer the NRS straps for that reason. Plus, you don't have to worry about the little triangle things to hook to the mesh floor of the rack. Don't have a pic with the boat up there unfortunately.
The Gobi rack is awesome, and you can pretty much haul anything up there, one way or another.

The Gobi has yet to let me down. I have a few complaints about the powder coat job they do but construction and versatility are great.

This is exactly the pic I was looking for! Can you take a close up pic of how you have the Tepui tent mounted? What mounts are you using?
BONUS Request: Any chance for a top down pic so we can see how much space is left over after the tent is mounted? This may convince me to go Gobi over Front Runner / EEZI-AWN.

Do I need to mod suspension if I get a rack?
Just put 275/70/17s on my stock height 2014 LE. Very slight rubbing in reverse when turning. If adding a rack like a Gobi, is it recommended to add a suspension upgrade due to the increased weight?

Not specifically a boat question, but when I mount my yakima hard shell carrier, it bounces on the raised bar in front and has causes a small rust spot.
After I sand and repaint the rust spot, any recommendations on padding the area to prevent future damage?
