Avatar is amazing! It seriously is.

Don't watch it in 3D though it's a waste and for the theater I usually go to it's also more expensive (normal price is $4, with 3D $6.25). I've seen it in both 3D and 2D. Doesn't make that big of a difference. The storyline I think is great and well worth the 15 years it took for them to develop the technology to do it right.

wow....This movie is the Bomb!....The scenario and special effects are off the hook!! ....and the story itself is amazing!...Very Intense and emotional. I dropped a couple of tears for sure and will definitely watch it again if I have the opportunity...or buy it when is available.

I know huh... the last time a movie was less than $6 was over 10yrs ago with my student ID and/or matinee.

Cheapest movie admission around here is $10 (that's if you're still in school, a kid, or there'll still be daylight when the movie's over). The reason why I'm with Thai, pick it up on Blu-ray for $15-25 and watch it with the family or a few times myself. I'm sure Avatar will be a great movie, even though it's not in my normal genre of films.

Your 5.1 setup is impressive.

I've read that 7.1 is an overkill for most and most people can't tell the difference with a high quality 5.1 and proper setup compared to 7.1. It was a HT setup from scratch, I didn't want to restrict myself.

Don't forget...with a DVD/Blu-Ray, you can rewind and have SUBTITLES!! Yes, i am a moron who needs subtitles to fully enjoy a movie! :roadkill: Oh yeah, the ability to rewind and subtitles make a huge difference when you have sub-school age kids yelling and kicking!

And yeah, with Blu-Ray and my theater system, i see very little need to run to the theaters these days....

Movies are getting too pricey but our matinees are only $6 and Avatar is worthy on the big screen but I will defiently own this on blu ray and will be fun to analyze at home hopefully by summer when it should be out.

Uneek, i definitely agree...7.1 is where you want to be...at the very least, 6.1. For me, the problem was space. My room is pretty small (17 x 11). Although it is wired for 7.1 (per request when i bought the house), but there is simply no room to put all the speakers! So, i concentrated on getting 5 good speakers and hope for the best.

You forgot a few other things Ron... you need to "add to the soundtrack" by making sure you get text messages and phone calls, kick the back of Thai's chair, rest your feet on his seatback. :rockthrow:

The only way to get a good price for a movie are passes from Costco.

the movies are expensive, but i dont know what it is about them i love. yes you overpay on everything but just sitting there in the seats and watching on the screen make movies so much more enjoyable. it puts me in a good mood going, maybe its because its either on a date or with friends, but i could probably go to the movies alone and enjoy myself.

If so, what did you think of it. I just read Roger Ebert's review. He gave it a "A" and said "I felt sort of the same when I saw Star Wars".

From the trailers that I have seen, it looks like a movie I don't want to see. So if your game enough to watch all 2 hours and 43 mintues of it, let me know what you think.

You can even rate it, 1 to 5 stars. (1 would be "Beerfest" and 5 would be "Gone with the Wind".)

I've seen it two more times and it was cool to pay attention to a few more things visually that i didn't see the first time.

Well, I saw the movie. I am sorry to ask to rate it from 1 to 5 stars. Quite simply, it was unlike anything I have experienced before. If you are going to see a 3D movie, this is it. I felt by watching the movie and being in a world I have never seen, I was in a Avatar.

You may like it, you may hate it, but it is a totally different experience. So, it is hard to give it stars because you base it on every other movie you have seen.

Oh, by the way, I have glasses and it worked fine. If you are going to see a movie this year, I think it is worth seeing this one, seeing it on your HD flat screen just won't do.

If I have to describe it, it was like seeing "Dance with Wolves" meets "Aliens" at Disney World Epcot Center on their 3D screen.
