Having ECU Problems After installing aftermarket Headunit

Hey Everyone!

I am having an ECU issue immediately after installing an aftermarket head unit. It looks like it is still working but shorting out. I can't read the display but it seems to be working. Any thoughts or ideas on a fix would be great! Everyone I have taken the car to said I need a new ECU. That's just far to expensive for the benefit.

Disconnect, and never connect, the orange illumination wire from the wire harness. Cap it off so it doesn't ground.

Also, if you're using a RAP module to integrate to a factory amplified system, it rarely can be the cause. If disconnecting the illumination wire doesn't cure it, swap the module

could you elaborate on this? I've never had issues with that orange wire.

Gotcha. Still trying to figure it out. I downloaded the Tapatalk app and it is different than the online forum.

Would this be the orange wire with white stripe going to the head unit. Or an orange wire going into the ecu module?

It is not capped or connected. Should I connect it? or just cap it off on both sides?

If you did not connect any orange wire from the radio harness, then as I originally stated, my bet is on the module. Disconnect it from the radio (but leave it plugged into the vehicle harness), disconnect the negative battery cable. Reconnect battery cable after 30 seconds. Plug the module back into the radio and turn the ignition on.

Just as an fyi, you should always cap off any unused wires.
