year or 2 later, but i not late on the post, i ste hawaiian time
HOO, havent lifted my new 2016 yet but the buggah ramble cherry. Short wheel base compared to my previous 4x4 trucks make off road EZ. went maks (makalawena beach) this past week for the 3rd time in 4 months. 8 min from highway to first bay Z's Surf spot. Went green sands first week i had it and totally thrashed it. Red south point dirt all in my engine bay. was just prerunning the dirt road and launching the ****ed up dips. checked my air filter after and it was just fully hammered. Lucky i actually checked it cause if i ran it for couple thousand miles more till first maintenance i wouldve starved my motor of intake. recently changed that intake out with a better cold air ntake. keep thinking of lifting mines with Old man emu kit on toytec ~ Old Man Emu Suspension Kit 2.5-3" Lift Kit For 10+ FJ Cruiser & 4Runner W/ BP-51
But that kit never has upper control arms so would either but the total chaos arms seperatly or just buy the King suspension kit ~ KS4R10 - King Complete Kit for 2010+ 4Runner
All my off road friends here on big island say **** the ICON cause they break and crack from the gnarly island life. Im pretty convinced ill go with the old man emu. Maybe this tax return or just throw a level kit on for easy cpl inch's. The stock ride is good already and i look like a mutha fkn cop with the stock look and tinted windows so prolly gunna run it this way for another year until i feel its time.
~ i went to waipio, was easy. on the way out i went hiilawe and crossed the river while flowing pretty strong. stock tires and height made through the river with ease.
~also went Secrets in Kawaihae (heading north towards hawi from kawaihae) and runner ate those hills.
~ went Black sands between kona airport and mahaiula's beach. whoever been down there knows the first drop is the worst. short wheel base smoked that spot.
~ went all around hilo side and puna, not to many areas for ramble. was at friends house in Kaumana hilo and got all muddy tearing it up in his driveway.
~ mana road waimea was cake, never did mudd pit but when i get new tires ill bogg it out.
~ i got a welder and tube bender so gunna make some rock sliders next month with some 1" 3/4 round tube. prolly make some nice racks too for my fishin poles. If anyone on big island interested in tube let me know. can weld anything or bend something up.
