HD, 5100 & 5160 Bilstein Valve Rates

Coll/Ext length for the 5160's is 14.8" / 23.6".

Toytec sells the 5125's, not sure which model though. The biggest difference with 5125's/5150's is that you must use an eye to stud adapter. Would this have an affect on the col/ext lengths? I'm just thinking there may be other limiting factors that wouldn't allow you to take full advantage of the shocks due to the extended length that the adapters give.

Any updates on this? I purchased the 5100s and FJ springs for the four corners. I am slowly tackling this project im my little spare time. I already replaced the rear shocks. Next will be the front shocks while keeping the stock coils and height. I will wait to install the FJ springs until I get a feel of the suspension with just the 5100s replaced.
I read mixed reviews about adding the FJ springs and the 5100s. Some say is great, some not great. Since "great" is subjective, I guess I will have to try it myself. That's why I am tackling this project in steps instead of all at once.

Any updates on the 5160 for the 4th gen?

Bump.

Specifically, how is the valving on the 5160 working out with rear coils that fall into the category of "a bit stiffer than stock" (such as fj, or superflex, or t12, and im sure others)

In other words will it be worth it to spend the extra cash or should I just stick to the 5100 plan?

I have the 5160's with MOOG OEM replacement coils.

The truck handles very predictably. Exactly as I would expect it to. I think the dampening rates were intended for a heavier spring though as that the truck does on occasion exhibit characteristics of being slightly over dampened.

I've ploughed through a lot of miles of pot holed gravel roads and the shocks didn't sweat a second of it. I also like how the 5160s match the fronts.

The truck feels stable, planted, and corners quite well and very flat with the Limited V8's sway bars, which apparently were the largest that ever came on a 4Runner. However, I had to replace both rear endlinks and all the bushings to get rid of the "nervous" feeling it picked up after removing the XREAS.

Let me know if there's any other specific questions you have.

I hate to resurrect an older thread...

Did any of you actually try the 5160's besides KEROS? A few people mentioned possibly getting them back in 2011.

I am looking at getting the 5100s in the front and 5160s in the rear with stock coils all around. I don't want or need a huge lift above factory spec, and am hoping this setup would improve ride quality on road and light trail and give a boost to handling while towing.

Thoughts?
