Headgasket gone ??

got a 2010 with 90k Km (56K miles )and I seem to be slowly losing oil and antifreeze , the amount in the overflow canister disappeared , the oil also seems to be slowly disappearing ,
The oil fill cap has white slime on the inside and I figure it looks a bit more than should be there for normal condensation in an engine , I will loose my mind if the head gasket is gone so soon , anyone have theirs go this soon , I can see so sign of oil in the antifreeze or vice versa .

no , not that I can tell , and no strange smells , , this unit was babied , never off road , oil changes every 6k miles wit mobil 1 0W20 etc , and now I am starting to get a clunk in front end also that I can't pinpoint , this might brake by faith in Toyota after 30 years of owning them .

A shop can test coolant for exhaust gas contamination, and pressure-test the cooling system. You may also be able to rent the equipment from a local auto parts store.

In 30 years of ownership your only issue is POTENTIALLY a head gasket, and your faith is broken in Toyota?? Don’t get too worked up yet. Get it diagnosed and go from there.

Sorry about your potential issue. Just curious how you have such low mileage. Did it sit for an extended amount of time?

confirmed today my lower ball joints are shot one i got it on a lift , toyota wants $500 a side for ball joints and a arms , wont sell joints seperatly , can get napa spicer for 65 a side with lifetime warr. looks like im goin to napa for em.

never had to replace a front end part in a truck or 4Runner before 200 k km in my life before , not normal, this runner has never seen a dirt road before. km are not that low it is drivin daily for the most part about 12k km a year . I will take it to a friends shop for a pressure test and see wha the outcome is in the head gasket

Have you ever changed the antifreeze?
The general consensus on the 4th gen HG fails was due to the antifreeze turning acidic over time. The touted 'lifetime' SLL stuff.

sounds like a head gasket (but I haven't worked on cars in a long time) Get a compression check done to at least see what side it's on.

Could also be a cracked head

Go to a shop and have them do a compression leakdown test.

A "compression leakdown test" is actually two different tests. A compression test determines the cylinder's overall compression by spinning the engine over and measuring the pressure produced. A leakdown test is where you introduce air into the cylinder and determine how much of that air is leaking from the combustion chamber (and where the hell it's going). Neither is gold standard for detecting a blown head gasket.

A block tester is the most common method of checking for exhaust gas inside the cooling system, which could mean many things. Blown head gasket, cracked head, cracked engine block, etc.

never changed the antifreeze was going to wait till 100K km , anyone know of a write up for a 5th gen lower ball joint replacement , it looks way more involved and painfull than a 4th gen . Cant find any write ups on net .

9 YEARS without changing the antifreeze?

Stung me with that terminology.

I'm at 76k miles and a 14 year old T4R...means I am still good...nope...that 'lifetime' named stuff was a bad idea.

You still need to change the fluids at regular intervals.
Look in your service manual.

Be interesting if the first model years 5th gen do this like the 4th gens.

Change your antifreeze folks.

9 YEARS without changing the antifreeze?

Is it not 160K km or 10 years ? Why would I change it any earlier ? Did Toyota just make that up for fun ?

I dumped my first oil at 1000km and installed a magnetic drain plug(then do every 12000 km )
dumped my diffs and Tcase at 5000 km ,( then do every 50 K km )
dumped my PS fluid at 20,000 km (then do it every 50K km )
dumped brake fluid every 3 years

Anything with metal particles in it I am a firm believer of getting it out early to get the break in particles out but antifreeze nope , not so much I just test it for freezing point every year and use PH strips on it for its corrosion resistance test .

I even put magnetic fill plugs in my rear diff and TC and take them out every engine oil change and clean them off and check the fluid level , to keep as much metal filings out of the oils as possible

you wont find anyone else on this fourm as maintance anal as me I guarantee it , and the funny thing is I bought it for the wife so its not my main concern and I hardly drive it .

I got a BJ 42 diesel and 2 dodge cummins diesels that I drive , you can't even fathom the maintance love they get

please don't give me a head scratch , thank you

put a sniffer in overflow did not detect anything , goin put die in this week and look for leaks, bjoints are changed out did a little write up thread and posted it, will keep posting updates as i do them on the possible headgasket failure , my buddy owns a radiator shop and says they had a totota in a while ago couldn't remember if it was a rav4 or 4runner and it was loosing antifreeze and they could not figure out where it was going they been in. business 40 years and that one stumped them after doing every test possible , gona keep a close eye on my level and continue with more tests if anymore dissapears.
