Heading to Moab (White Rim) - Questions about a lift

Did my trip over the weekend with my dad in his stock '06 and my brother in his stock '16 Taco. Both were fine.

There were some bad ruts but it's easy to straddle them. The backside of Murphy's wasn't as bad as it was last year. Overall I think the trail was in better condition this year than when I ran it stock last year. I'd still suggest you take the TRDOR over the Limited just due to the better clearance.

Thanks for passing this along. Its nice to hear that Murphy wasn't as bad as last year. For know we are planning on the TRDOR. We would only take the Limited if our friends decide to one. I'm half temped to split a jeep rental with them and save the wear/tear on the Limited.

You will be fine. I've mountain biked the white rim with a Toyota Privia and Honda Passport as our support vehicles and they did just fine and had no trail damage with careful driving of course.

I'll recommend getting sliders and a set of max tracks.

I have set of 4 Tred Pros. They basically the same as MaxTrax. I never leave home without them.

Interesting you bring up sliders. I was just thinking the rocker panels looked a little closer to the ground they my Rubi. They would sure as heck be cheaper than body work .... eeek

What site! Airport is my favorite.

Airport is fav for sure. Labyrinth is also is nice. I love the water/canyon view. I haven't stayed at Murphy but I really liked the location.

Thats the truth. My Rubi did things I didn't think were possible.

I took my 3rd gen down and my buddies advised me to keep it in the parking lot.

This would have been a bit nerve racking without protection. I plan on getting a 5th gen and getting some decent armor, but might not upgrade bumpers due to cost.

There is nothing nearly this hard on White Rim

My days of running trials that risk breakage have past. That's why I love White Rim. Its nice and mellow compared to this.

Every time I've gone has been with friends that have Rubicon's with 35's and 2.5" lifts. They are able to tackle pretty much everything.

A 4Runner will do a LOT more than you think possible. When I'm on trails in Moab I pretty much see Jeeps only and love going right up the same obstacles they just went up with 3 or 4 inches of lift and 35s.

Very sweet pic. I always feel like Indiana Jones in the Last Crusade when I approach the dugways. Definitely makes me feel little.

Its good to know the road is good this year.

Were the ruts near Labyrinth very bad? Last year some sections that were pretty deep.

My trip got pushed back to the fall, but I think I'll be installing a lift beforehand anyways. Right now I'm looking at 6112/5160 combo or OME

There were some pretty deep ruts but they were easy to get through. I guess that might change if that area gets flooded.

Top one is Moab Rim trail (Devil's Crack) and bottom is Escalator on Hell's Revenge Trail. Love them both, but without armor you would not go unscathed.

Here is my 1st Gen Taco on Escalator. Walked right up it after a buggy and a Heep on 37's nearly rolled.

Non issue. Ran White Rim on factory SR5 suspension, + sliders, + Cooper STT Pro 265/70/17, no skids.
