Headlight Burning?

More likely that one headlight was replaced at some time - possibly with an aftermarket unit. Was the vehicle ever in a crash? Whatever the case, I would venture that what you're seeing is oxidation from the hot Texas sun. I'd try a headlight restoration kit on it first. Make sure to apply some sort of UV resistant coating after polishing though.

No crashes. I believe that lightbulb WAS replaced, but it wasn't me. Maybe I'll replace the bulbs on both sides again and replace the assembly on the driver's side. I don't know that it'll buff out...and honestly the $100 to replace it is easier...I'm made of money after all lol :)

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a fire hazard!

Changing the bulbs won't do anything to alter the color of the driver side lens. Be careful replacing the whole assembly for $100. All you're going to get for that kind of money is an aftermarket unit made in China that won't perform or last.
 
I bought a pair of new OEM sport headlights from Carlock Toyota in Tupelo, Mississippi for hundreds of dollars cheaper than other dealers.

I called multiple dealers across the country including a few near me and Camelback Toyota which is a dealer many people recommend on this forum for their great prices.

$217 each headlight plus shipping total was $458.

I'm guessing shipping to Texas would be less.

Might also be able to sell your old pair.

Not sure if this is related to my other post: Electrical Issue? Alternator? or if this is a uniquely separate deal.

The driver's side headlight appears to be discoloring and/or burning...not sure why or how or what's up. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I just looked at your photo of the headlight, I have never seen UV damage that looked like that, something else has caused that.

Did it look like that when you bought it, or did it happen after you got it?

I also would only recommend OEM replacement....BUT I would find out what caused it before risking a new OEM headlight.

I would do a little test to see if the discoloration is on the outside or the inside, try sanding a small spot with some 200/fine grit sandpaper and see it you can remove some of the discoloration, if you can than the damage is not the inside, which it would be on the inside if caused by some electrical issue from the bulb.
