What was the install time for something like that? A full day I imagine?



I've just pre-ordered the new LED bulbs from Diode Dynamics so I'm more interested in the addition of that LED strip, I already have the LED switchback signals.



Totally worth the 2.5hr drive for me to pop down there, I'll be contacting these guys at some point next year for sure. Thanks for posting...

The led strip is also behind custom fit acrylics.

wow, this looks fantastic! might have to skip the XD HID kit and save for the real deal. I love the LED accents as turn signals idea. very Audi looking which is a good thing.

The IS projectors are Bi-x. And yes, there is a harness that operates the halogen HBs with the HID HBs.

You could upgrade the OEM projector with a clear lens and an HID kit and achieve pretty good results. I have pics and lux readings from Lightwerkz for this mod and they are quite good actually. And this does save a few bucks.

For me, going to all the trouble/expense required to get the lights out, and opened up, is no small task. So to go to the extra step of buying the IS projectors made sense to me. They only cost $100/pr., and labor was probably a few hundred more. Lenses are a wash, and the HID components are a wash. Made sense to me.

What lenses would you use to upgrade the stock projectors? Something like this?: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/projector-kits/clear-lenses-and-etching.html. Any other internal changes that you would need to make?

I’d like to upgrade my headlights to HID, but keep it as stock looking as possible while at the same time not spending a small fortune. It seems like I might be able to get good condition OEM housings for about $150 each, since I’d rather go that route so downtime isn’t an issue and I also would have my existing ones for spares.

i don't see enough benefit of retrofits over HIDs in stock projector to make it worth the cost, but having bi-xenons is worth the cost

do you have to modify wiring for the high beam to work on the bi-xenons, or does it have a harness? does it still retain factory high beam in addition to the HID?

For me, the harness that came with my headlights required no additional wiring for the bi-xenons to work and my factory slot also still works. I have LEDs in the interior slot for the factory highs and then the HID's in IS housing for HID low and high beam.

Yup, I spent more than that for the OSS upgrades to my BMW lights and I had to send them my factory housings.

Parts alone (including replacement headlamps) for my retrofit was in the ball park of $500. Another $500 for professional labor is well worth it.

Any DIY'er can swap in IS projectors and save the $500 in labor. Remove, bake, swap, re-install. Shouldn't take more than 4 hours total time. Depends on what your own time is worth I suppose.

Problems with Morimoto's is that you need side entry projectors. There just isn't enough room for "normal" projectors with a bulb that goes straight in.

So how did they wire the LED daytime running strip? Do you still get hyperblink like when we put LEDs as our highs/DRLs?
