Headliner removal?

Has anyone completely removed the headliner in a current gen 4Runner? Looks like I'm going to have to do that to install a roof rack. Is there any adhesive involved or is it just hardware?

No I haven't removed it, but I think the dealer took it down partially to fix a rattle in mine. It should be easy since they just put it right back. What rack are you putting on? I take it you're removing the factory rack? Or did you not have one? Let me know what make and model you're going with and how the process goes, I was thinking about doing that myself. The factory rack is only rated to 150 lbs. I have a yakima megawarrior on it and then once you put a kayak, mountain bike and gear up there you are way over 150 lbs.

I have no rack. I think I'm the only 4runner on the continent without a rack. I'm looking at the factory rack and the Sportrack. I know of no others that fit the factory holes in a 4runner. Do you know different? I think the Sportrack is rated for 200#,

I don't know of any other racks that fit the holes, other then those. And I didn't even know there was a different Sportrack, I thought all were the same. Do you need to removed the headliner to put in the factory racks? Good luck and let me know what you end up getting.

The TSB for the headliner rattle (do a search) has instructions for removing the headliner...

Thanks. I found reference to the tsb but not the tsb itself. Does anyone have it?
