Headrest Monitors

Hey everyone,

I posted similar question in Audio forum but want to try to see if I get more responses here.

I have a Panasonic Dvd HU with monitor with extra a/v inputs so I'm thinking of putting on dual monitors for the headrest. Has anyone install these on the 4runner yet? I've seen Vizualogic ones on sites but is it good? Any experiences, suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advanced.

i have an 02 sport edition 4r. grey or charcoal cloth interior. not sure of the exact name of the color, i can find out though.

i want to put monitors in the headrest. however the headrests are SO SMALL on the backside of it. the stitching brings the "square" on the back of the hearest probably too small for ANY brand tv. i dont even think a 5" would fit.

has anybody had this problem? what did you do? any suggestions?

i've thought about the headrest monitors too, but settled on a ceiling flip-down instead. for one, they are very small if you wonna use the factory headrest, otherwise there are readymade ones, but are larger and to me, its too much of a mismatch. alot of those ones on ebay are really crappy so steer clear. i'm very happy w/ my flipdown, very bright, no fadding when looking at from an angle. i would say same quality as my hdtv at home.

that looks pretty nice. how much does it block your rear view mirror view? hehe. i thought about doing one of those flip downs, and i still may, but for some reason i just love the custom look of the tv's in the headrest. i cant get over em! im still trying to debate on how i can get it done and keep the factory fabric look

i agree with you about the cheap ones on ebay.

I pretty much just see the black behind of the monitor when it is flipped down. Lots of little neighbor kids, and just for kicks, i installed a rear cam. i debated about the ones drilled into the tailgate and the license plate frame...went with the frame. that way i can switch between rear cam/dvd whenever i please. i used to be a DJ and have a bunch of DVD music videos so it's a pretty kickass time cruising w/..........frens on the weekends going out.

o, and about the headrest thing, i borrowed a 5" screen from my brother once to play around with, and it would fit great with a little trimming, but you have to worry about the big ass cord (wont fit the stock pins), and sitting back, it's like staring at a gameboy advance. I don't know about you, but i get a little headache from squinting to see.

those are prefab i believe. they have matching color and everything, it's just they are BIGGER than the original stocks, that's why i said it would look awkward. two bigger headrest in front and two little ones in back, that's what drew me away. and it wasn't practical (nor do i have the deep pockets) to have all four. research more, there are alot you can do w/ screens just depends how deep your pocket is. My audio/video mods total just a little over $4K. I'm sure some other guys here have well over $5K invested.
