Heat Shield

Hello Guys, My 2010 4Runner has been great so far, as its getting closer to the 100,000 mile mark, I am having issues with the heat shields under the truck rattling, I tightened them up but seems like the issue keeps coming back. I have a question, will it effect anything if I just plain old take the heat shields off the truck completely? I would appreciate the input! Thank You!

I just posted this in 4-gen, but I lost "all" of my underside heat shields a few years after purchasing the truck.....I bought the 4R new. I never replaced the shields and never had a problem with heat. The shields are nothing but heavy duty tin foil.....imo.

If you do want to preserve the shields, remove the nut that is no longer doing anything--you probably will see that the shield is rusted around the nut and now loose--and then use a fender washer and replace the nut. That takes care of the loose shields. And no more ridiculous vibration.
