Hi Guys, I have an '02 4Runner SR5 with leather seats. It looks like all the wiring is there for heat including a plug behind the blank on the dash. Can I buy an OEM switch and hook it up?

I doubt that you have the heater elements in your seats.
I would break the seats down first to see if there are elements there. If they're there - you lucked out and just need a switch, if not, you'll need everything associated - switch, relay pack, elements, maybe even a wire sub harness.

I just checked the FSM and it looks like if you check for wires in pins 2 and 4 on the drivers side and 2 and 3 on the passenger side of the main connector from the harness to the seats, you should be able to confirm the circuit exists (in both the seat and the main harness), and if they have continuity within the seat, I would also assume the heating elements are there.
FYI the switches are expensive (~$100 each), I replaced one of mine as the clip to hold it in the dash was broken.

Have to resurrect this thread for a question for those of you that can help: are the '01/'02 OEM heated seat switches only On/Off, or are they Hi/Lo/Off switches? I am installing Innovative Heat II (Hi/Lo/Off) units in my '99 LTD and want to install OEM switches. If the OEM switches are On/Off I'll have to figure out how to make the two get along. Thanks in advance for any help. Didn't want to start a new thread just for this.

Look around the pick-n-pulls for a pair of Lexus LS400 seat heater switches. I got mine for like $4/each. They are high/off/low 3-way switches. When I recovered my seats I installed some carbon elements. It has been in the teens the last few mornings and I really need to get them wired up. I don't have any factory wiring so I am just wiring them up like any other accessory.
I think you can find them in black and brown. Don't mind the brake line fittings.

Infiniti QX4 switches work too. I have them in my truck.

Ya, I didn't like that either. I moved my rear window switch down, eliminated the glass breakage sensor, and put mine here.
These are the QX4 switches.

how would one tell if the elements/wiring are already in the seats? i get "by looking" but what am i looking for specifically? last i had my hand under the front seat, iirc, there are some wires there; but, not really sure what they are for (power seat or the wiring for heated element, etc)
my driver's seat has a tear in the leather so i might get the seats re-upholstered and if the element/wiring is not setup now i could have that done then too
also, i live in the Denver, CO, area...does anybody have a reference to a source (company, person, etc) that does these types of modifications? i have a couple other ideas to go with this but am not the most "mechanically gifted" person...gimme a computer to tear down and rebuild, easy enough...dig into wiring and fuse box, etc, not necessarily the go-to guy
anyhow

Do you have power seats? If so, you'll have wire bundles going from the floor to both seats. If not, you'll only have one wire bundle under the driver's seat which is there to detect the seat belt connection for the idiot light on the dash.
I do not think you have heating elements if you don't have switches to control them somewhere. The only way to know for sure is to remove the seat covers and see if there is anything but foam underneath. Or if you have a wire bundle hanging from the seat and not connected to anything, that could be a clue.
My 97 SR5 did not have the heated seat option. When I stripped and refurbished the interior I found no evidence of any factory wiring that could be used for that purpose, nor did it have heating elements preinstalled.
If you're recovering your seats, that's definitely the time to put a heating system in there.
Heated seats did not become available until 01-02. I have swapped them in my 1997. They bolt in but you gotta wire them up. They get real toasty too.
