Heater Control.

I've tried fairly hard to find the following info:

1. How do you access this panel ?
2. What is the value of the potentiometer, Ohms and Wattage?

I have replaced the mixer valve and when I checked its function, it looked scratchy.
Now, when I want to raise/lower the temperature, it is random. It reacts the same as a guitar volume pot that's been used a lot and breaks up the signal. Now when I pull out on the knob, it responds, until I hit a bump !!

Any help will be much appreciated.

What year, make and model of vehicle is this?

On my 2000 4runner with manual heat/ac that control is not a potentiometer, it operates by cable the water/mixer valve on the firewall.
It might also operate a Air Mix Door as well.

If you can stick your head under the dash and operate that control you might be able to see what it's trying to do.

Based on the image, it is an '01 or '02 SR5, which does have electrically operated heat/blend (though not automatic).

That part was never available separately, so you'll have to pull it out and check it for yourself. I don't expect it to be a standard part though (standard resistance, yes, but footprint/shape may be hard to match).

Hit it with some contact cleaner and see if that helps.
