Height measurements, help wanted

1998 4Runner. I have a 2" 4Crawler body lift. Stock springs in rear with 2" spacers and approx. 2.5"-3" of lift in the front from my adjustable Fabtech coilovers. I'm installing 891s tomorrow and may have to raise the front a bit too.

Front: 26"
Rear: 25"

After installing the 891s I'm 26" in the rear. It's perfectly even now.

Quick quote from my build thread... hope this helps... This is a SS 1.2 lift.

I ended up getting about 4" of lift on the front and 4.5" in the rear. It should come down a bit after an alignment because it has some positive camber up front, and the rear springs will settle. Also, it came at a perfect time because I found that both of my rear shocks were toast once I got them off the truck.

I took before and after measurements from the center of the hub to the fender, and from ground to fender on both the front and rear... these measurements are lift only, no tires, and we're taken immediately following the install so they do not reflect any settling in the new springs.


FRONT:

Driver's Side, Before: Ground to fender = 33", center of hub to fender = 18 7/8"
Driver's Side, After: Ground to fender = 37", center of hub to fender = ???, forgot to measure

Passenger's Side, Before: Ground to fender = 33.5", center of hub to fender = 19 1/8"
Passenger's Side, After: Ground to fender = 37 1/8", center of hub to fender = ???, forgot to measure

Based on these measurements, the front gained about 4 inches of lift. It also appears that the factory coil on the driver's side had sagged quite a bit. Both front shocks were also going bad.

REAR:

Driver's Side, Before: Ground to fender = 34 3/8", center of hub to fender = 20.25"
Driver's Side, After: Ground to fender = 38 7/8", center of hub to fender = 24.5"

Passenger's Side, Before: Ground to fender = 34 3/8", center of hub to fender = 20.5"
Passenger's Side, After: Ground to fender = 38 7/8", center of hub to fender = 24.5"

Based on these measurements, the rear gained about 4.5 inches of lift. These measurements were taken without the spare tire mounted under the vehicle.

It was slightly raked before, but picked up an additional 1/2" of front to back rake from the lift. The amount of rake didn't end up where I thought it would be, and that's a good thing. I'll take more measurements down the road to see how the springs settle out.

EDIT 2/19/11:

I just measured it after installing the sliders, these measurements are with 285/75r16 GY Wrangler Duratracs installed as well (previous measurements were on 265/70r16's)... Ground to Fender........

Front Driver/Pass. sides: 38"

Rear Driver/Pass. sides: 40"

That is awesome. You gained 1" from doing a V8 swap!

That is the strange part...


Just kidding. I had installed a Downey Adjustable Coil over lift kit but for this thread, i didn't post that measurement. I believe I posted the measurement in another lift thread but I can't seem to find it.


Anywho, I find it surprising that there is no sag after installing the V8. So the V8 must not be that much heavier then the V6. That or the weight is distributed even across my suspension.
 
2000 SR5: No running boards, with trailer hitch.
Front: 20"
Rear: 20"

After SS 7.2 and alignment:
Front: 23.5"
Rear: 24"

I did not expect 4" from 890s in the rear, but I like it!

It looks like an average measurement (for stock coils) ~20" F&R.
(99s being ~21"). 2000-2002 are still a little shorter.

This is a good reference for measuring the height gained from your lift.

This is really interesting. That means I have 5 inches of lift in the front from my kings and am getting 7 in the rear from my 8 warps. no bumpers front or rear but sliders. I wonder how much of that I will lose when bumpers go on. BTW current setup rides like a dream.
 
My 4runner is a 1999 sr5 Highlander with 180,000. Stock everything, probably all original. Im at 21.25" at all corners except drivers front which is at 21".
 
After thread read & some measurement to current set up I'm rethinking my choice on picking up used 99 talls.
My 96 limited 4x4 with Daystar 1.5 lift kit sits Front 22.4 / Back 22.5.
hmm maybe stock moogs I installed last summer are special , They sure as heck ride nice f,sure.

1999 Limited. New high country shocks and 1" spacers in front and 1.5" in rear last year.
Measure from Center of wheel to the bottom of the limited fender flare.
22.5" Front
22.5" Rear, with a fill tank of gas:naughty:

Does the type of flare (limited vs SR5) change the measurement?
