So i did some searching before actually starting the thread and there is plently of info on wiring. Let me also say that this isnt my first set of hellas installed so i have an idea of what to look for.
I have the Power wires tied together and going to relay #87, next i have jumper wire from relay# 85 to behind relay mount to ground it. Then i ran a wire from relay #86 to inside the cabin to a 3 prong illuminated switch. Last I have power coming from positive terminal on batter with in-line fuse to relay # 30. I also have the ground wires tied together from the lights and ground to a good piece of the frame. (paint removed at both ground spots)
Inside the cabin, (where i think the problem is), i have the relay wiring coming in going to the middle prong on the switch. I have add-a-circuit using 10amp fuse put into the top left open fuse section running to the hot side of the switch and a ground running to the bottom.
The lights at first did not fire up. I started the truck and they fired, meaning to me that I did not have enough volts coming off the fuse panel to fire the lights initially with just the key turned to accessories. Now the lights worked well for a few days until they didnt fire at all. At this point i first checked all the ground connections because historically thats the issue. Let me also say that the illuminated switch I had never light up. I checked the ground and power and still never illuminated. I even swapped the top and bottom prong connections. I went out and got a heavier duty switch thinking the switch was bad but now I can no longer get the lights to fire. I checked all the fuses, the one coming from battery and second one from fuse panel both are intact.
What am i doing wrong??? I have looked at this the last 2 days without any solution.
Where are you guys grounding wires inside the cabin for aux switches. I want to belive its my ground but testing the ground wire to a few different places doesnt chance the result. I am going to my parents to get my tester today so i can try and isolate where the issue is. Any insight greatly appreciated.
