Hella driving lights vs hid retrofit

I really need some more lighting for my 4runner it's down right dangerous at night and I do a lot of back road driving. I've already upgraded to the 98-02 headlights but I'm still not satisfied. Has anyone installed hella driving lights and been happy with them or should I just go ahead and do the projector retrofit and hids.

Personally I have the 98 headlights still but have hella fog lights on the bumper. I have them aimed to fill in everywhere the headlights don't hit. Plus they still cut off at a point and don't blind oncoming drivers so you can run them all the time.

I bought the Hella 500ff driving lights. They have a very pointed beam so right now being in the city I angled them down. They do help during storms to find the lines in the road. When I move next month to the country I will angle them more up to see animals in the road. Overall I'm happy with them. I would say this series is more spot style than driving. It was a cheap upgrade and looks great however I am looking for another set that are more driving style. This will give me 4 round lights in front

I have Hella Black Magic, I regret not getting the PIAAs. And honestly I rather do the retrofit, less stuff on your car. I'm saving for the retrofit.

However the ones on the roof are pointed right through the back window so don't piss him off.

I use the Hella 4000 Euro Beam lights and love them. Their wired to the high beams plus a on/off switch. Of course they are big so mounting might be a problem.

I did my retrofits long before I got my LightForce 240's simply because I use the headlights everyday and everywhere. If you're planning on just using the Hella's (or any aux driving light) strictly for back country roads they're the cheaper (most likely) and easier way to go.
