I just bought an '87 SR5 Turbo 4Runner, with an almost immaculate frame, and almost as spotless body (just a little rust around the rear fenders...but I'll be cutting those up anyway...). it's also got 24k miles on a brand-new (not rebuilt) Head and turbo...

here she is:

BUT, it's got a little rod knock coming from the back of the motor. The story of exactly how it happened is a little convoluted, but the only solid known fact, is that it was an awesome runner, until the owners boyfriend tried to change the oil for her....within a few thousand miles, it started knocking...

anyway, it sounds like dropping the oil pan and getting to the rod bearings shouldn't be too difficult...but I can't seem to find any real solid info on what to do from there. I've worked on subarus for years, nothing I won't do (except tranny work...). but never any yota stuff....

Nice truck :D

Get yourself a Factory Service Manual and start to work on it.
It's a little harder to pull the pan on the IFS trucks, but not too bad.
