Hello from a former Tacoma owner

Hey guys. I'm a regular on Tacoma World. Sadly my Taco has been totaled over the weekend. I'm ok. I joined this site a while ago to get in a slider GB.

Anyway, I'm considering a gently used 4th or 5th gen 4x4 for a replacement. I'm hoping to learn as much as I can about them. First thing is I really prefer cloth seats, but looks like they all have leather? At the least the few I've looked at online do. When did they stop putting the v8 in them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

sorry for your loss, but the T4R is a great rig, so when you get yours I'm sure you will wonder why you waited so long :cool:

when you do post some pics so we can watch the transformation

Will do, MVP. I've always liked them, but needed a bed. I still do, but will get a trailer if I really need to. I've always been a Taco guy. The one just lost was my 3rd. Want to try something different this time. Thanks!
 
I've got a trailer for those times when I really need to carry or move things.

I'm pretty sure you will like the extra little things about the runner - let us all know what you get and how it goes
 
Wow, a lot of Texans have joined in the past 48 hours. We're taking over! So, Lex, when you are not visiting Metropolis and harrassing a certain super hero, where in Houston do you live?
 
Sorry about your Taco, but we're awesomer than Tacomaworld so it'll even out ;). To answer at least one of your questions, the V8 went out with the 4th gen, in 2009. Check out the stickies in the 4th gen and 5th gen subforums for lots of good prospective-buyer info.

Welcome to the forums. I just signed up here myself. I'm in Houston too. I didn't want leather interior either but you can't be too picky when looking for a used one. I knew I wanted 4x4, bluetooth, sunroof, and 3rd row seats. Had to be flexible on interior and exterior tho (didnt want black paint tho). Only about 10% of sr5's have 3rd row seats, and then add 4x4 to that and its even less chance. You'll find one, just determine what features you gotta have! I just sold my taco. Missing it a lot!

Welcome and I too came over from Tacomaworld. You'll love the 4runner if you do get it. I guess as afar as the V8 goes, I've yet to hear of someone saying they wished they had gone with the V6, but either one would be great. I did get a trailer to haul around my 4 wheelers and such with no problems or regrets whatsoever..
